Zodiac Cadet Aero 230 dinghy fits in the cockpit on a CD25 & is easy to lift & inflate while its in the cockpit.

That doesn't sound all that impressive but trust me its not easy to find a one and also have a photo showing everything including the motor fits in the cockpit out of the way.
note: this is a very small air floor inflatable

In the same category, is the Achilles LSI-230E, Air Floor 7' 7", Gray Hypalon, Weight is also 55#, but the tubes are 15.5" rather than 14" on the Zodiac, plus the more durable Hypalon vs the Zodiac's PVC fabric.

Air floors make a lot of sense in this size boat, because they are a much more stable surface than the roll up, slat floors, and lighter and easier to assemble than the alumni or wood floors.

I have never been a fan of carrying an inflatable in the cockpit. It just takes up too much room--on top of the cabin is a far better place.
 
We have the same dinghy for our CD25, very happy with it. We use an EP electric outboard. For short trips we pull it up over the railing and put it nose down into the cockpit athwartship. Very easy to launch that way but I will try your method next time. I agree with Dr. Bob for longer passages that the cabin top is best.

Gererally, I agree with this. However, sometimes it's nice to just be able to toss it the cockpit without having to go through the trouble of stowing up to and strapping it down. Making a run from camp on Sucia for a day trip to Patos, for example.
 
Have you weighted your dinghies? I brought a PRU3 a decade ago and I believe it was advertised as weighing around 48#; I notice now it's advertised as 53#. I can't remember the actual number but I believe it weighted around 63#. If you subtracted the floor board you could remove then it was 48#. The reason I bought the dinghy was the advertised weight which would have been great if true.

How fast are those 7ft air floor dingys with 4hp?
I'd think of a 6hp as its the same weight and engine.

The Tohatsu, Nissan, Mercury and Evinrude 4 stroke, 4, 5 & 6 are exactly the same outboard and all weigh exactly the same. These are all made by Tohatsu and aside from the decal on the cowling are the same. They get the extra HP with different carburetors. They do have 3 shaft lengths, which changes the weigh slightly.
The Yamaha 4 & 6 are the same, except for the carb.
