Roger - after my post to Jay (Don’t read it) I logged off this site to shut the computer down and just got the following email from Professor Osheroff.
Just wanted to let you know, you were right about him.
I am embarrassed now because I see several typos in my letter to him. But then he also made one, so maybe I am in good company.

My email to himDear David:
The body of the ET was covered with environmentally friendly foam, only the attach points and other complicated surfaces were covered using a freon blowing agent. I suspect that information is in the final CAIB report. Have you looked there? If not, contact me again and I will then send your not on to Scott Hubbard, who was on the board and also director of NASA Ames Research Center. I suspect he might know how where the information can be found.

Dr. Osheroff - my apologies for taking your valuable time with such a trivia mater.
I have a friend (Roger Bumgarner) a faculty member with the University of Washington. He recently emailed you requesting information about the Columbia Space Shuttle Disaster. You were kind enough to answer him which cleared up the debate he referred to in his email.
My request for you is, can you point me to where I may find the documentation, which shows the builder of the external tanks used Freon in the insulation on the foam ramps.
If you can it would be greatly appreciated, if not I thank you for your time anyway.
Dave
