The richest dog in town

I have beautiful white German Shepard dog. Good dog....but he has a tendency to wander. So when the batteries get low on his radio collar he is off the the land of oz.

Now, the dog has figured out that when the collar does not beep there is no shock to follow. This occurred yesterday when an elderly couple sauntered by. He joined them for a frolic all the way home....thier home. The prisoner had escaped.
Well, This is a small town in america so the only thing to do they figured was to tern over the prisoner to the local vet. The vet runs the chip check and I get a phone call to come get my doggy.

This was not the first time.

I informed this pleasant dog-lovin woman that this was the richest dog in town and that his taxi was already on the way on the way. To which she replied "your kidding" "no" Says I "the cab is on the way".

Now, I know this because I had a deal the the only cabbie in kingston, a cut single
woman who is nice and loves dogs. "sure" the cabbie says "I'll run him home just settle up later". So when the cabbie shows up all the ladies came out to take a look see and watch the richest dog in town climb into the front seat for the remainder of the journey

All of this vet to kennel service and cabbie charged me $6.00 american dollars. I slipped the generous tip into the mail before the cabbie was even home.

God, I love living in a small town in america

I grew up in a town like yours. But needless to say some towns grow way beyond their own good. My home town is all but gone now. Absorbed by a much larger city.
I often reminiscence about my town where I new everyone in it. Thanks for reminding me.

When we lived in Morris Plains NJ our Shih Tzu would get locked up in the drunk tank at the jail as there was no dog pound.

He thought he was a sheep dog and would make a break for it every time the 4 small kids hit the door. He would "help" the cop direct traffic at an awkward intersection by the train station in the evening -- one cop would tie him to the telephone pole for the duration.

He ultimately went to a "better" home without little kids.

Chris,

I know the taxi driver you are talking about and she is indeed the best. She's given us several rides to/from the ferry terminal and she always gets a great tip due to her personality. Doesn't surprise me at all that she's a dog lover. I'll have to bug her next time I see her about the hairy old guy with big ears I saw her with!
