The ramp....

We all have crazy ramp stories but this morning I arrived to yet again see a boat sitting on concrete.

Roller trailers should all come with a sign that reads "NEVER DISCONNECT YOUR STRAP AND SAFETY CHAIN UNTIL THE BOAT IS FLOATING". These guys were apparently halfway down the ramp with their 30' center console with twin 225 Honda's when it rolled off the trailer. Imagine?!?!? I have seen this more than once, and always with roller trailers.

OUCH!!!!

Bad enough to have it happen---- but---- to have it happen right next to a boat show-----

Wish I had the camera with me two weeks ago when we were at the Ventura Boat Show in Channel Islands Harbor.

We were standing on the dock when we heard a sickening thud and "oh SH!T". I turned around to see an older, nice looking runabout sitting on the ramp. Poor guy had an audience of a couple hundred people.

You know....I actually thought about grabbing my phone camera to snap a pic but I figured the angry owners would not appreciate it.

So far at the ramp this year....three cars into the drink and one boat on the concrete. I'm sure more things have happened but these are the things I have seen.

Delivered a boat to Astor FL and the nice folks had a very nice big ol porch deck that you could see a local launch ramp about 30 yards up river towards Lake George. Close enough that you could watch everything....far enough away you could not hear the normal voice tone conversations. Needless....we had plenty to watch....AND HEAR...

No pics....but priceless and what better entertainment??

Sure wish I was down at Mission Bay yesterday. You've seen lots of cars and trucks floating along with the trailer sinking, but watching a $200,000+ motorhome doing it has got to be a "priceless" moment.

I'm sure the punch line on this will be apparent quickly.

I once drove on Highway 101 from my wife's folk's house south of Tillamook, Oregon into town and not long afterward back south again. I noticed a new white line in the middle of my lane that I hadn't seen going north. It didn't look like it was professionally painted, sort of skipped around and wasn't very straight. After several miles, pulled over on the shoulder there was a pickup truck with an empty trailer connected to it and a nice white fiberglass boat on the ground behind the trailer. Also, two rather sad looking guys.

If I'd tried to take a picture I'd probably have been beaten up.
