Thaw Out!

Hey -- for all you frozen in C-Brats up in the far north of OR/WA, how about a little daydreaming? The temperatures at Lake Mojave are rising into the '70s and there's a Gathering planned for the weekend of Feb 19-22. It's a long way to trailer -- but they rent houseboats on the lake. A group of you fly down to Vegas, share the rental of a car and a houseboat and come bask in the sunshine! You guys tie off in a neat cove, and we'll flock around you -- we even promise you rides on our boats. Laughlin and the buffets (shows) are close by, or there's always the bright lights of Vegas coming and leaving Lake Mojave.

I know -- you need time off from work and a rich uncle -- but, it's fun to dream, isn't it -- and sometimes, if you dream, they come true.

If that timing doesn't work, how about a gang of you coming down to the Lake Powell Gathering in April and doing the same thing -- if you don't have time or desire to trailer your boats that far, gang-rent a houseboat, roll on a keg, tie in a cove and watch the C-Dorys hustle to raft off with you. Imagine it ... a week on the most beautiful lake in the SW .. with the most beautiful boats flocking around. Dream on ...

We are VERY interested in the Lake Powell thingee, and in splitting a houseboat rental, maybe four ways. We would travel on the weekend (4/24 & 25, or just the 25th if we flew), and stay the week from the 26th through the 30th). Here are the rates for the 46 footer at Wahweap (have not checked availability):

DateRange Qty Days Amount Added Tax Total
01/01/2004 - 04/30/2004 1 3 995.00 67.16 1062.16
01/01/2004 - 04/30/2004 1 4 1147.00 77.42 1224.42
01/01/2004 - 04/30/2004 1 5 1517.00 102.40 1619.40
01/01/2004 - 04/30/2004 1 7 1686.00 113.81 1799.81

So splitting a five day rental three or four ways and flying down looks a WHOLE lot better than four days of towing the Daydream down and back...of course we are assuming that there will be some resident or closer C-Dory folk with which we could hitch a ride for the exploration of the lake...(sorry about not being able to make the table line up correctly - a cut and paste from lakepowell.com)
