Tennessee River Cruising

I have loaded a few images taken recently while cruising Pickwick and Nickajack Lakes on the 652 mile Tennessee River.

I have wanted to do the Tennessee River gorge in the fall on Nickajack for a long time and finally got to do it a week ago; we were not disappointed. We spent 2 nights at Hales Bar Marina and then cruised up to Chatanooga where we spent a night at the city docks. Our cruise back to Hales Bar was incredible with 30 miles of glassy water. Most of these shots were taken from the moving boat. http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_ ... _album.php

Pickwick is also an outstanding cruising lake with dozens fo coves off the channel allowing quiet days on the hook. There is Pickwick State Park Lodge, the Tenn Tom waterway, JP Coleman State Park and Shiloh National Cemetery all within a radius of 30 miles. http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_ ... _album.php

We will add to these soon but wanted to post a few sots while I had a minute.

In a few years I will extend my boating season into the winter in the south. I grew up on the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers (went to college at Sewanee) and spent a lot of time in the woods (forestry major).

Thanks for the great pictures.

Great pics! We hope to return to the Tennessee River soon, and pick up where we left off at the Watts Bar dam, heading downstream.

Thanks for posting these photos. It brought back fond memories - Ditto Landing, Guntersville Lake and Marinas, Shell Mound, Wheeler Lodge. Haven't been back for over ten years but you have kindled the desire to return.
