Tennessee River Adventure March or April 2011

Bill, Glad to see you out on the water and I feel sure you are listening to weather radio.... You have several days of thunderstoms predicted. As you know they can be pretty fierce this time of year. Wind gust up to 45 today with constant in the 20s. May be a good few days to take in some sites tied up in Chattanooga. Watching for your next post for plans.

"Falcon" is secure in The Volunteer Marina, Knoxville, TN.

We had heavy south winds about half the time because this river turns in all directions and we were delayed one day at anchor because our son Dr. Bill gave us weather information from Little Rock, AR.

Some may wonder about the medical issue. Well a cyst (a puberty thing) was removed by a lady surgeon, the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader type, a really nice experience in the operating room.

I don't know what we will do in Knoxville. Take advantage of this king size bed for one and then out for dinner.

Glad to see yall made Knoxville!!!!
They have made several very nice improvements on the water walkway at the base of the stadium. Some neat art works, some neat historical markers/signs and a few good food joints too. Looks like some of the worst weather is now behind us.

Not weather related, but, two men in a bass boat passed too close behind and too fast past a house boat and they have been draging the river for 3 days now looking for the second man. The house boat saw the boat toss the men, circled back and got one of the two right away. No alcohol, no high winds,.....just a bad call by a bass boat going too fast.

Yall stay safe and watch for the barge traffic. Seems to be high on the Cumberland now.

Hello from Knoxville, TN.

Knoxville, TN. has everything, art, music, free transportation, The Marriott,
Volunteer Marina, and the cleanest city I have ever seen. Brenda and I enjoyed the market square, music, food, and even the packed (standing room only) crowd of thousands where we selected people for a long conversation, an old man in a wheelchair, a news paper photography, then a very vocal couple that ended when it's to go.

Breakfast down in the lobby this morning and then we cast off down the Tennessee River running with the current and I hope with the wind.

We love the C-Brats even Byrdman.

Hello Byrdman and C-Brats from Stamps, AR.

Twelve Days and 863.8 miles on the Tennessee River was a GRAND ADVENTURE for an old land locked couple in south Arkansas. Weather delayed us for one day however the 14 locks were normal but locking through with a barge one time was our first experience.

Knoxville and Chatanooga TN. were great stops but our time was limited (you would think retired people have all the time in the world, not so with Church, grandchildren, property, etc there is always something pulling us home).

Where will the next adventure be? There are many places to see in this different way.

Please pray for a kind, gentle, forgiving nature among all people.

Bill and Brenda Russell
