Teak Helm Hubs

I just finished turning 8 more teak helm hubs to replace the black plastic stock hubs that come with the helm wheel. PM or email me if you are interested in obtaining one. $18.00 includes S&H.

They won't fit the older 16's helm. I had to make a really custom one for mine. They fit any of the stock helms that CD uses that have the black plastic cone looking hub insert. I don't remember the name brand of that helm, but they are used in Bayliners and other boats as well. The hole that it fits into is 2 3/8".

Koa. I would need a piece a minimum of 1" thick (1 1/4 would be better) and a minimum on 3" sq. Send me enough to do two so I can make on for me also. I love the look of Koa. I can switch off every other month with the Cocoboa Rosewood one I have installed now. But to answer your question, I would love to make you an replacement helm. That is JUST in case you buy a certain 25 that you have money on and can't wait to find out whether it is a go or not. Just in case.

That's awesome, David. Mahalo.

I'll look around and see what scrap blocks I [may] have in that size...just in case.

I know I've got some other hardwood from Fiji; really hard/dense and dark with black grain running thru it. Very nice.

David,
I modified one of your standard helm hubs to fit my 87' 16' Angler wheel without much trouble. Cut/sanded to fit over exisitng hub secured with 5200. I didn't have to cut around the outside, only the backside which doesn't show. Wish I had a picture.

Hey Guys, just in case you don't find the Koa you might need let me know, I just may have a few nice pieces left over from the pallet of blanks we brought over from Honolulu last month.... just in case you need some of course. Let me know and I can slice a few blocks off for making hubs.

David I would like one. I can not find your message box (large data base).

I have been making paddles lately and the local sources for teak tell me teak is 4 times the cost of most normal types of wood. I'd would like the teak. I would also like to find a supplier for exotic woods. My sources are at least 100 miles away.

My boat is 2006 22' angler with the normal wheel.

Thank you

Well, one of David's helm hubs has made it across the country to Connecticut arriving in this afternoon's mail. What a work of art and a wonderful addition it will be to C-Star. Thanks, David.

I had someone else email me about the helms these fit. The helm that C-Dory has been using for quite a while is made by Sea Star and has a black plastic hub in a 2 7/16" center hole. The hub is held in place with a small set screw.
