tackle organization

Brent that's a great pic. I dont know if I will go to the same location, but I'm thinking what you did there would be perfect for me in the aft dinette seat. :thup

You could do that through the bulkhead side so that tackle was available from the cockpit. You just need a locking system. I thought about doing that one my previous 22 and even on the Tomcat.

I know the cruiser cabin is a different configuration from my angler model but you could consider adding a drawer or cabinet with a drawer somewhere if there is room.

In my angler I raised the Wallas stove/heater to the top of a cabinet I built with a large drawer. Most of my tackle goes in the drawer in clear plastic boxes or heavy duty Ziploc bags. I can reach through the cabin door, slide the drawer open and grab whatever I need quickly.

I've seen similar cabinets with drawers and cutting boards on top attached to the rear of cabins on some boats.

I started construction on a tackle organizer on the aft cabinet in my 25. It has space for 4 tackle trays and a bin behind it for bigger things. I'm going to keep working on it over the winter. I'd like to add slides to separate the trays so it's easier to get the bottom ones out. There is space on top for something else. Then I'll stain and seal the wood so it matches the teak better.

One of the main features of the design is to support a second monitor that clones my chart plotter. Now I can keep an eye on the sonar and boat location when drifting or trolling. The tackler organizer hides the cords and keeps the monitor in place against the bulkhead window.

I think you'll be happy with that setup. Mine has worked out very well positioned right by the cabin door. Just reach in, slide the drawer open, grab what's needed and right back to fishing without tripping over tackle boxes or accidentally dumping them all over the deck.

As far as the water tank goes, I moved mine to a bladder tank under the V berth.
Am happy so far, and it helps putting a little more weight forward.

Ditch that big water tank and replace with a 6 or even 3 gallon model. We found 6 gallons lasted a long long time cuz all we used it for was hand washing, etc. Here's a thread on what we did:

Todd tank
Part Number: 85-1531WH
Capacity: 6 Gallons
Size: 16"L x 12"W x 8"H
Online Price: $44.10

It's simply amazing the extra room you have by changing to a smaller tank. You still have it handy if needed, but tons more storage. If I had it to do over, I probably would have opted for the 3 gallon tank and still be happy.

I posted this originally before our 4 day san juan trip, and one thing I found on that trip is that I consume a lot more water than I thought via coffee :)

that's not going to change :smiled

Thank you for posting the link to GET STORGANIZED I am and an organized nut when it comes to my boat. Problem is the Sea Wolf has limited storage as most of us know. Having things in order and knowing where they are and easy access is imperative when the bite comes on and I need to change gear. Hope your getting a cut from Storganized because they will be getting an order from me. Another project for this winter. Here is the link again for others. http://www.getstorganized.com/

I just finished installing two Tempress Tackle hatches on the port side of my 16 angler. You can check out the install on my photo page under Salty, I'm the Salty on the prairies, as there are several Salty's. These went in very easily and as a bonus will also hold 8 pop cans or something similar.

that looks like a GREAT setup! I love it. I would love to see more pics of your cockpit / aft area (well, your boats) if possible. is that a wooden floor you put in too?

I need to climb into my boat and see where my options are for something like that. that is a great looking setup. LOVE it.

The floor was very simple just used some cedar 2x4 for the stringers and cedar deck boards for the top. I split it down the center so it is easy to take in and out. The main reason for the floor was so I could install a Wise flip flop seat, it works out great when we have more that just the two of us aboard. It comes out in just a couple of minutes due to the threaded inserts that I installed under the deck boards. Sorry I don't have any pics of it in place and probably won't have until next summer. Salty is getting ready to hibernate for the winter.
