tachometer quit

While running in the 22 cruiser last weekend, the tachometer gauge for one of my Honda 50s suddenly went dead. I tried connecting the good tach gauge for the other motor to the feed for the one that went bad, but there was still no response. I guess this means the problem is in the motor?

Coincidentally (or perhaps not) the tilt guage is not working for that motor as well.

Am I off to the shop or does anyone have some suggestions?

Check the voltage with a digital voltmeter and the ground wire along with cleaning connections
 
Yes, very likely just a bad connection.
Hope you can chase it down without spending $$$.
