stern rail for cd 25

I just installed a stern rail on soulmate and it looks really good. I was always concerned with how low the stern is infront of the engines and how easy it would be to trip or have a guest trip right off the transom. Dave at rail makers in Everett made it for me. I am really happy with how it turned out and if I can figure out how to get a digital picture of the rail from my camera to this web page I'll do it if anybody is interested

I'm also interested in a aft rail, not only for safety but maybe I could put a fishing pole holder on it.
 
I wanted one also but the factory said they didn't have a good design yet.
That was last Aug maybe they do by now. Hope to see yours at Lopez.

That looks great! I'll have to give them a call as I need to add rails around the back of the 27.
 
I'll try to get a photo posted this weekend. Our design is very different from the photo that was just posted. The up rights come down and bolt to the flat 2 inch space at the top of the transom with a wide 3 inch lip that also bolts to the back side of the transom with a 9 degree bevel to it. This moves the up right bars forward so the middle support bar doesn't get hit by the engine when it is lifted out of the water. I know a picture is worth a 1000 words. I'll try to get the photo posted. Call Dave at Railmakers in Everett, Wa. he's a good guy to work with

just posted three pictures of our new stern rail for our cd 25. It works great, doesnt get hit by the motor when it is raised.
 
When I got home today, the stern rail for our CD 25 was on the porch. It did not take me long to get it unwrapped and dry fit. I love it. It looks great; it fits great; the workmanship is great. I can't say enough about how satisfied we were doing business with David and everyone at Railmakers NW. They get my 110% positive recommendation.

Thanks to Chris Brown on Seahooked for pointing me in the right direction. The rail is the one shown in Soulmate's album. I paid $375 for it because of the cost of making just one. David mentioned that they have a lot of design time in the rail and have not made/sold many. If there were a big enough demand for it, the production price would be lower. I was happy to get it at the price I paid.

Chris mentioned the safety factor it provides. We are going to mount our bbq on it.

Y'all know I don't try to toot my own horn here (at least not much) but I couldn't let this one go by. I designed that rail and worked with Railmakers to have it built. [For those that don't know I also desgined the radar arches, interior grab rails, and CD22 transom safety rail.] So while Dave may have some time in that design it was spent mostly with me pushing them to make it even better than our first efforts.

I've been trying to get C-Dory to purchase these from Railmakers ever since we fnalized the desgin and to offer them though all the dealers as on option.

I've never taken a penny for any of the designs that are currently used; I'm just happy to get them out there for folks and see them offered as options. I also like being able to order them with the boat and not one-at-a-time.

There...horn tooted! :note

(This is the type of information that most folks are not aware of. How individuals in this group have done so much to improve upon our sturdy craft......If it weren't for "Tyboo" Mike we wouldn't have the "forward facing convertible seat" (also affectionately known as the "Barber Chair" that many of us have in our 22' C-Dorys). Mike created the first one, then David of Anna Leigh did a couple of them, then Les fabricated up a few and finally the factory began offering them).

(Before the "Barber Chair" folks in the forward dinette seat of the 22' could only see where they'd been.....not where they were going... :roll: )

You deserve to toot your own horn for a lot of reasons, and this rail is certainly one of them. It is a great addition to our boat, and I can't imagine that most CD 25 owners wouldn't love it. We thank you and David for your efforts.

The factory really should add this one to the boat.

Railmakers N/W in Everett :thup has made several rails and ladders over the years for various boats I've owned. They even gave me one day service on my 16' Angler bow rail. Great people to work with. :star :star :star :star
