Starter battery cables

Depends on where the batteries are. Some have the batteries in one of the lazerettes. Some batteries are in the space between the fuel tanks, and some batteries are in the somewhere in the cabin.

There are charts on line giving the gauge required vs. length of run.

I am aware of charts pertaining to cable sizes, but my boat is a bare hull with no motor so I have no idea how long a cable from a starboard lazarette battery to a 90hp outboard would be, and because I have no experience with large outboards and don't own one yet I'm not sure how much current the charger draws and for how long. So.. if someone has a 22 with the start battery in the starboard lazarette, can you please tell me what length and gauge the cables to the battery are. Thank you.

My 2021 Honda BF90 came with 4 awg wire to the starboard lazerette battery. The length is about 6 ft from the motor head to the 1,2, both switch in the lazerette.

Thank you. That's exactly what I needed to know.

4 gauge is a big wire. I bought some nicely made marine grade 2 gauge wires at amazon for my RV house bank just a couple weeks ago. I was surprised at how good they were for the price and it might be worth looking into for you as well. I just didn't want to drive for an hour to Anchorage....BTW, I have no idea why this RV battery banks needs 2 gauge wire...but that is what it came with....crazy big as outside of starting the genset, which is a tiny engine, they just don't carry much. Whatever....overkill isn't bad I guess.

4 AWG is the minimum for your 90 hp starter wiring
remember when looking at the wire size charts measuring length is round trip(battery to motor, inverter, etc. and back to bat.) With wire BIGGER is always better. :thup
