Spiders

I just moved my Ranger 21 tug from it's home in Sanford,Fl. to it's future home on the Tennessee river near Athens, Al. It has been in it's covered slip for a few weeks and is completely covered with spiders and webs. Obviously the new marina has not taken care of the conditions of the slips with only three boats in the new sub-division at this time. Do any of you have info. on the best way to address a spider problem in a marina? I have been in a number that had spiders but this is my first experience to have the problem and say it is mine. Any product names and/or other suggestions will be appreciated. Ron

Interesting topic. My TomCat picked up a colony of spiders while under the canvas in Alaska over the winter. We've been killing them regularly.

Spiders are present b/c a food source is present, too.
We remove cobwebs, use glue box traps and your favorite broad spectrum insecticide powder placed in small containers such drink lids, jar lids, .... and place in several locations. Change often and avoid touching the powder and wash hands after handling the powder. If unsure of the spider identificatioin wear gloves.

Glue traps are useful to monitor an area after treatment.
