Something's got to give....

Google has a nifty spellchecker on their free toolbar download. I don't know if it will work on them Mac gizmos.

We have discussed in the past our need to keep the announcments more current, but there just isn't much to announce, I guess. I suppose I could continue my rant about Google's gmail being a haven for spammers.

So, this announcement is just for the sake of announcing something..........

We have an important announcement to make here!

PopEye's in deep trouble  Very vulnerable at this time.
NO SPINACH! Does that mean Brutus will take off with
Olive Oyl ?? Is it possible that Brutus sabotaged the spinach patch??

Inquiring minds want to know.............

No worries Ruth, I think he only eats canned spinach. He's the man! Wait a minute, I reconize that hat. Does Joe smoke a pipe?

Robbi,

Happy to read your post and find that probably all is well with PopEye. The thought of Olive Oyl being abducted by Brutus sent shivers up and down my spine. (Joe says: Shivers Me Timbers, Matey, shiver me timbers).

This getting old is getting old. I'd forgotten about the canned spinach, the hat and the pipe. We have the spinach (canned) and the hat but don't have the pipe.

Flagold keeps talking about this "hookah" set up he has. You might try to cut through the smoke and see what's really cookin' in FLA.???

Joe.

:D I have just purchased a 19' Trawler C-Dory with a 90 Hp Suzuki 4 stroke outboard. I live in Charleston, SC. Would anyone be concerned about taking this boat down the IC waterway to Jax., FL - assuming I have all the req'd nav. equip., skill, etc.? I would plan on several days with many marina stops, hotels, (wife) etc. Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.

Welcome aboard, flathbury. That 19 is a great boat - just ask Joe and Ruth from R-Matey. No problem with that boat on the ICW. There is a plethora of books on running the ICW; seems lately that the Skipper Bob books have gotten attention here. Try a google search on those.

Also, several of the folks who post here have done the Great Loop (or parts of it). Be sure to check out Halcyon Days, linked here. Your area is part of our planned itinerary for the future... perhaps our paths will cross.

You may consider starting a new thread with this post so more folks will see it and respond.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Hey there, Flathbury... Figuring you probably bought a 19 ft. Angler model, you could probably use some aft canvas cover from the sun and rain before setting off. You must have a very understanding wife to consider that long a travel on such a tiny boat. The boat, however, is very well suited that task as well as excellent on shallow water exploration - so common in the South.

A good touring chart book will probably do you more good than radar, etc,. for such a cruise. Be careful about anchoring along the side of the ICW, 'cause a tug 'n tow's wake will throw you around with incredible force. I think Bill and El on Halcyon have a detailed breakdown of that trip on their site.

:D Thank you - great information! Yes, Sheila is the BEST! Anything to get to Jax to see our daughter and New Grand-daughter (and son-in -law) Seriously, he's a great guy and one of the reasons we own a C-Dory today - a great financial advisor - his profession.

Thanks again.

Well Dave, I'm sure it would be a good idea for me to be in bed at 11:00, but at 31 and with 2 jobs that is about the only down time I get to do silly things like join my dads boat group! LOL :wink Oh and by the way, what in the world are you doing on here at 3 am! Thanks for the welcome, it's about time I got on here and checked up n my old dad! ~Heather[/b][/color][/b]

Heather – my apologizes. I did not know Mike was old enough to have a 31 year old daughter. I thought you were one of his current younger kids. The name did not register at first. Now that you have joined the C-Brats, are you going to get a C-Dory for yourself?

It has been awhile since I have been on here at 3 AM, but will happen some times. I am just one of the old farts that has nothing better to do at times.

From his reaction, I would say you surprised him. I hope it was a pleasant one.

Well Dave, no apologies necessary. My old dad is older than you think and if you ask his grandkids he's REALLY old! LOL And as for my own C-Dory since I didn't get one for Christmas I'll have to continue sharing the Tyboo with my dad!

And dad... Was that an OMG I'm busted, or an OMG how cool my kid is here?!?! It's about time you noticed me I joined like 3 days ago! I was going to tell you but I thought I'd wait and see if you noticed! LOL Love ya!
