Solid Rear Bulkhead for 16'-19' C-Dorys

I may have missed the thread, but, has anyone tried to shape and install a solid bulkhead in place of a drop curtain on a 16' cruiser, 16' angler, or a 19' angler? I see the advantage of doing it from a noise level perspective as well as truly making the cabin weatherproof. To save weight I think a fiberglass panel would have to be used as well as bracing for the entry door. I've wondered if Ben Toland's new removeable bulkhead in the new 215 could be modified to fit the C-Dorys? The reason I'm asking the question is because I'm not going to need a boat as big as a 22' cruiser, but, I like the solid bulkhead the 22' provides. Man, I hate it when I have a bunch of time on my hands!!! :D Thanks, Jim
 
Hi Roger, thanks for the photos. I figured that someone had built a bulkhead. Joe did a fine job on it and the finished product looks great. I don't think I saw a photo of the job after he finished the fiberglassing in of the bulkhead to the boat. I wonder if there's a fiberglass panel available somewhere that could be shaped with a router to fill the opening? Just curious, Jim

As to the second question, I doubt any other existing one would fit well, or be readily available, or as much fun as designing and building a custom one to your needs!

Thanks for the last picture Joe. Didn't think about looking in another area for the final product. DUH! :D He really did a great job on the bulkhead; it looks like it came with the boat. Jim
