Sold - 16 FT. Angler For Sale

The very first posting says

"1995 Angler 16 ft. with galvanized Lil'Rider trailer and 35 hp Honda outboard.Lowrance color depthfinder and Jenson am/fm cd stereo.Rod holders and rod racks installed also.Very good condition and barely used!
I'm considering all offers over 5K. Boat is located on Kent Island,Md. "

The boat was originally listed at $5 K . That's the starting point. As Tim stated "all offers ..."

As I stated, I was in the same boat as the lister and sold the Jeanie P well below what other CD 22 are being marketed for. :cry

I'm still in that same low cash position, hence my reluctance to proceed further when the price nearly doubled. I wasn't commenting on the true value of the boat, just the situation as it was presented to me and how I saw it.

Your comment , on the other hand , seems a bit pointed and uncalled for. :(

ps: a comment by the lister why the price was raised from 5k to $ 9500 wouldn't hurt, would it?

Allan

Sorry you feel that way. I'm a literalist I guess (and an engineer). It said "offers over $5K", not listed at $5K. He has not yet gotten an offer "over $5K" but an offer, sort of, of $5K on the nose. He did say he would accept $9500 and consider it sold, and then $8995. Those ARE listing prices.

I, too, sold a CD22 for way under what it was worth but someone was happy with a boat and I was happy to see it go down the driveway and get the TC255.

I apologize if I offended you, I very often "polevault over mountains of mousesh*t"

And no, a comment from him wouldn't hurt. I would expect it to be that he was just trying to get things started with the $5K number, the boat is surely worth much more than that... IMHO.. But as always, it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it...

Charlie,

I'm an engineer too. It's not clear to my why you are offering so many opinions as you are not buying this boat. As for the value, it's to be determined by the market. I have seen quite a few 16 footers of that age sell for $5k, in fact there is a 1991 16 footer for sale here for $7500 (thats the list price) This boat is six years older with less features

You haven't seen the emails I have sent to the owner offering more than $5K so I'm not sure why you are "helping" here (not)

Tim, I think you'll find that I offer my opinions freely and often. That's the beauty of this site. If you don't like 'em, don't read 'em!

And as for the boat, while I don't think I'll buy it, I may change my mind. And I'm not trying to "help" anyone, I don't know the seller nor you.

Marty, you may be right, ought to make this my "gig". If I can sell that Gloucester 22 sailboat, there'll be plenty of room for it!

What is this?....jump on Charlie month?

I inquired about this boat early on (during the 5k+ but prior to the $9500 post)....my wife found the poster's ad on craigslist, not knowing that it was the same boat.

Then (in an unrelated topic) I was labeled as "friend of Charlie"...like that was a bad thing!

So I hereby proclaim that I am indeed a friend of Charlie (even though he is an engineer).

There are some posts placed here that are factual, and serious, and some that are posted with humor in mind, and I haven't seen any by Charlie that violate the "just be nice" rule......SO!!!!!!...just be nice!

Thanks Larry...He made me feel so "nice" that I may just go buy the darn boat for the fun of it. Us old, independent guys, can do things like that  That boat's worth every bit of $7500-$8500 if not more. But as we both said, it's worth what someone will pay for it!

Just got our new sailboat rigged, if it were a little cooler out, I'd put it in the water and go for a sail!

Thanks again..

Charlie

We may differ a bit on the 16 footer...I can't pay a dime over $5900 due to the original post on that boat....LOL!

I'm sitting 15' from our 22 angler, the wife is on her way to Florida to visit family...I might just launch the 22 and take the dogs for an overnighter in fresh water.
If I do...there will be a comical post in the AM about our adventure for sure....I'll be sure to label it as "comical" from the get-go.

BTW...sorry to have side-tracked this topic.

Keeps it at the top of the list! I'm about 500' from the TomCat but it's too darn hot to do anything but sip G&Ts on the screened porch! Now if I only had some "G".

I wasn't trying to jump on Charlie. I only replied because it seemed that he thought that my considering a offer around the original starting point of "over $ 5 k" would be insulting and not worthy of a reply.

I check this web site daily and I know that Charlie probably didn't mean it the way it was put and I acknowledged his apology.

Maybe he had a bad day- maybe I had a bad day and should not have replied but let's just let it go.

Seeing it's the 40th anniversary of Woodstock , as one who attended
AND bought tickets, let's be friends.

Concur Allan. Peace! :thup We're too close to each other to argue! C'mon down the river some time! Hope Lorider sells his boat this weekend!

BTW, any day that I wake up is a great day! But, as you said we don't always have "good" days...

I noticed on the thread quite a few people said boat X is worth price Y.
The market determines what something is worth - i.e. what it ends up selling for is what it's worth. But using any sort of book or metrics of past sales from previous years, etc is nonsense now with the economy the way it is.

On another note - I found a 2008 c-dory 25 with 22 hours for 65k - brand spanking new (almost) - if anyone wants the info let me know.

My gosh! I never knew I'd be stirring the pot with this ad..........
I started out at offers over 5k to get an idea of what it might be worth as the blue book value seems a bit off to me.Then, after researching this forum I came up with the higher price. As was stated earlier,Its only worth what someone is willing to pay at that time.................
These posts do amuse me though............................ :smiled
