SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Many thanks to Roger and PJ for taking time to stop and say Hi.

Having only had 'Little Cute-C' for three weeks this became our very first cruise alongside another C-Dory and so glad it was 'fishtales' - looking so good!
Ocean was the smoothest yet resulting in a really pleasant journey. Heading back to Ventura Harbor shut down for 'lunch on the rollers' - very nice!

Thanks again Roger and PJ. You two are great! :thup

Shan and I took her mother out for her first time on a C-Dory. Beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon cruise over to Olga for late lunch. Had a great meal at the Olga Cafe.
Not much of a crowd at the dock.

Neat photo, Tom. Those San Juans are so moody and picturesque!

I spent last Friday and Saturday on the water at Grand Lake, OK with my youngest son. For once in the last couple of decades, I actually outfished one of my boys! Maybe that was my Father's day present. He didn't seem to be trying too hard...

We anchored out, experienced a pretty hot series of thunderstorms - very exciting and actually relaxing in that you forget all your homebound concerns.

The anchor windlass acted a bit spooky - throwing line out at breakneck speeds, so son had to climb out on the bow a couple of times to re-engage the line. Anchor drug us too close to an island, so we had to pick up and move in the middle of the storm... thank God for radar.

All in all, a very nice, two day cruise and lots of time to share stories!

Got the Seastar Steering bled, moves smoothly now. Also put in the opening cabin door window that Sweapea got for us over a year ago! Sure fits well and only broke off one screw in removing the old one. Still have to seal it but it's in there for now.

Getting Captain's Choice ready for the 100 mile trip up the bay to Langford on Thursday, will overnight in the Little Choptank, about halfway up and take on fuel. Will be traveling with two 25's from Point Lookout Northward, anyone coming up is welcome to join us for the trip or at anchorage Thursday night!

Weather looks great, all systems are "GO".

Went to TrawlerFest at Poulsbo, saw Jeff M and crew on the Ranger 25. He said they had sold two 25s that day and I am not sure but maybe also two 21s. Pretty good! Talked about the Ocean Sport and Black Feather a bit and maybe a larger Ranger tug in a couple of years. Looking forward to seeing him at the Bellingham event.

Hey all...

Yesterday I pulled my TomCat from Grand Lake, OK to take back to Kansas in order to outfit for the summer Galveston, TX, fishing expedition.

So far, the trailer has not been wet since all the marinas to date would rather just use a sling to put her in and out. That trailer design with the open slots is a real life saver.

On the highway, that is a really sweet running rig, the Ford 250 diesel Super Duty and the well-designed trailer. Unless you're on a washboard, you can hardly tell that boat is behind you. Of course, starting from a stop, you can tell....

Anyway, My thanks to all the pioneers - esp. Brent and Dixie of Discovery and Dr. Bob of Thataway - for all their work and feedback to get the needed modifications done!

Today is the first day of the Anacortes Yacht Club's Windermere Regatta (sailboat race) and I was out on the photo boat, an Albin 31. We also took two of the buoys out and set them to mark the course. My first sailboat race; it was a fun experience but I was glad I was in the warm and cozy cabin and not out on the rail of a racer.

had to settle for a cruise on a site seeing boat to see the wonderful Navy ships at dock in Norfolk VA.... Great trip for sure. Fun day in the sun.

Thanks to Halcyon & Daydream we had an unexpected great weekend on the hook at Matia and Sucia. We played Uno and Hearts which are new card games to me. Used our dinghys to access the sandy beaches and took walks on both islands. Fun watching either Joe or Pat taking Baxter for a run on the beach.

The weather was not always the best but Pat & Patty BBQ'd up a great salmon dinner (Copper River Salmon, no less!) so who cared if it was blowing or raining. We had the pleasure of meeting El & Bill's son Brad and grandson Bryce. Just a wonderful time.

Ditto what Ruth said! Night one at Matia Cove, night two at Shallow Bay on Sucia, great company, great food! But Sunday was interesting for me...I started out by falling off a slippery rock, doing the splits, bruising my tailbone and abrading my calf pretty good, walking wounded today! Then, when we weighed anchor at Shallow Bay, it was all tangled up in a daggone large crab trap, the re-bar type, and it was a chore to get loose! The icing on the cake, rounding Pt. Francis where Hale Passage enters Bellingham Bay, we lost three blades on the ProPulse, the second time at that very spot...thank heavens for the BF15 kicker, across Bellingham Bay at 5 knots! But we DID have a great weekend all the same, even if I was the big loser at hearts!

Mike,
Thats terriffic!!! I have looked for your boat while fishing weekends but haven't seen you yet. We limited 4 fish last Friday and three oversize, one 8 1/2 foot. Keep those kids busy...

Last week we went to Petit Bois Island which is a barrier island approx 6 miles south of Pascagoula, MS. The wind was pretty brisk at 15-20 mph but the beauty of the C-Dory is that we just slowed down and enjoyed the ride. We spent 2 nights anchored out at the island and enjoyed 3 days beach combing. From the island you can see several oil rigs which we plan to explore with our fishing rods next trip.

Well, our C-Dory adventures this week began on Monday when we noticed that Halcyon was tied up at P Dock (Squalicum Harbor). That led to all of us having lunch in Fairhaven at the Colophon Cafe. Great meal! Then someone (not me!) decided that a piece of carrot cake would be a good idea. It was huge and the cream cheese frosting is delicious! This restaurant needs to be on your list of places to visit when you're in Bellingham!

Tuesday morning we met the Halcyon crew over at the Squalicum fuel dock. By lunch time we were docked at Fisherman's Bay. After lunch we walked over to the dock where the first C-Dory we owned is now tied up....someone has really been working on her as she sure looks a lot better now than when we were there in May for the Lopez CBGT.

From Lopez we went on over to Lime Kiln. Saw several whales. What awesome creatures! First time I'd ever heard the sounds they make when they blow....

Leaving the Lime Kiln area we followed Halcyon to Jones Island. Had our supper there. El cooked up some of Roger's asparagus. What a treat! Visited for a while before everyone turned in for the evening. Next morning toured the island. We saw three otters on the west side of the island. Brad took a photo of a mink. Bill took some great photos of rock formations and plant life.

Joe announced that of all the islands we've been on that Jones is now his favorite. Definitely a great place for the grandsons. There was an Oregonian family (three generations) camped out that had been there for a week. The Mom/Grandma said that they'd started this boat/tent campout thing when their boys were six years old. Now the grandchildren are ages six and under. Great place for everyone to get together once a year.

After leaving Jones Island we went over to Roche Harbor. Fueled up ($4.19 gallon!) and charged up our cell phones and Bill's computer. Showers were taken and ice cream bars were eaten. There's a very nice ole yeller dog at the fuel dock (her name is Sarge).....Bill asked if it was okay if he could give her a doggy treat....not a problem. Then Bill became Sarge's best friend. She'd go up sit beside him, give him that doggy look and start thumping the tail.

From Roche Harbor we went over to Prevost Harbor (Stuart Island). When we arrived there we saw Walter whom we'd met last year when he was docked at Reid. He comes up to the Pacific Northwest every year from Southern California. Stays on his 20' Flicka which is the same type of boat that Bill and El had for many years.

Thursday morning we toured Stuart Island. Not only did we visited the schoolhouse and the museum but Bryce and his dad Brad played basketball and baseball. Thanks to a very low tide we walked the beaches and looked at the oysters and various other sea life. Bill explained many of of the rock formations and took lots of photographs.

Returned to the dock where we had lunch before departing for Bellingham. Awesome trip past Waldron Island and several of the other islands. Just as we were approaching the northeast corner of Orcas Island, we were hand signaled by two gentlemen on a huge Canadian yacht. They were going east toward Lummi. Theysaid they were lost and wanted to go to Friday Harbor. They must not have had a chart for this area????

Waved goodbye to Halcyon as they went over towards Chuckanut Bay and we headed in towards the boat launch at Squalicum. What a wonderful week we've had with this nice family :love

Cold, Windy and Rainy - typical PNW day. Went to Bellingham for lunch, mored at the C-Dory Visitors dock - notice the C-Dory behind us? Some boat by the name of Halycon?
bellingham.jpg

Filled up the tanks at Hilton Harbor Marine - $3.61. Thought the fuel dock was going to sink when I jumped out of the boat - interesting place.

Cheers,
Tom
