SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Ken, thanks for the kind words. The drawer is made up completely of
1/2" cabinet grade birch plywood primed and painted with matching C-Dory white.

Fun project and a pretty ideal one for my purposes and use.
 
I didn't do this today, but I had to wait to see if it was ridiculed in Cathlamet before sharing the pics. This is the thing Kay called a contraption after the first installation plan. She likes the latest design. It's a flat screen TV on a swing arm so it can be viewed by anybody or everybody anywhere in the boat. It's hooked up to a DVD player, and we can get four UHF channels locally. Wives and kids - sheesh - the things we go through for 'em!

mike, do not show that to my son. I go boating to get away from t.v. but can you pipe your chart plotter into that thing?? or the fish finder. you could swing it around and see it from the back deck.

Have I got a deal for you. I have a slightly used Tracvision G6 that would fit nicely on the roof so the crew (not the captain) can watch TV underway. I'll make you a special deal on it.

Since the Tracvision doesn't work well up here, we went snowshoeing in Prince William Sound. Winter just won't quit this year. 6 feet of snow down to the tide line. It was sunny when we started and was snowing when we got back.
 
Mike: How are you powering that DVD/TV? I have what I believe is the same set, a Toshiba. Mine plugs into 120 then goes through a converter and runs off of 12 volt. I have it mounted in the camper. I want to run it off the house 12 volt but toshiba won't tell me if I can or not. If any other of the electrical experts want to chime in I am all ears.
 
We had our shakedown cruise at the Cathlamet gathering this last weekend and found FEW things to tend to on the new CatyMae. I'm ecstatic to say we have NO INTERIOR WATERLINE!! The minor things we found were no cabin lights, coiled cabling from the radar in the electronics panel that was so huge we couldn't close the cover and when we washed the boat Sunday, we discovered a patch about the size of a hand that was gelcoatless. I called Sportcraft yesterday morning and they said "haul 'er up and we'll take care of it." I asked if we could pick it up by Friday to use it for the weekend, and Ryan said they should be able to manage that. So, I hauled it up to them, they took a look at what needed to be done and said, "if you can hang around for a bit, you can take it back with you today!" So, I unhooked and went for lunch and by the time I got back, they'd finished everything and I was ready for the road home! I can't say enough about how great those guys are at Sportcraft. They're the best, and if there are dealer awards given by C-Dory, they deserve one! :thup

As a sidenote, Sportcraft also got creative with the battery installation, as we had a 'listing starboard' problem with the old boat...they mounted both portside, since the kicker's starboard and it really balanced it out much better.

Can't WAIT to get back on the water again!

I hope to take care on my onw interior waterline and green crop problem in time to share some water with you.

Weeeeeeel, got Captain's Choice out in the water today and did a first sea trial after replacing lower unit on Stbd Engine with Bill and El's old blown power head unit.

Pretty good except could only get 4700 RPM WOT on that engine, 6000 on the other (last years numbers). Thinking its plugs, fuel filters, other stuff.; Runs fine, idles fine, etc.

Any ideas??

Wil try switching fuel supplies (mine is separate from each tank to eliminate the fuel system)

Did the engines seem to be running at different rpms from their sounds? It might take a extra person on the helm for someone with good hearing to go back and listen, but a difference of 1300 rpm should be quite noticeable.

If one engine was running at 6000 and the other at 4700, there should be a signifigant difference in hp produced between them. Did the boat run straight ahead with the engines aligned straight down the hull centerline?

Roger may be on to something, but every listing I have shows all 40, 45, and 50 hp Hondas with a 2.09:1 gear ratio.

Bet you have an electrical hookup issue with the tach(s)..?

Thanks for the ideas guys. The tachs have not been touched, the only thing I did was put the lower unit from Bill and Els 40 on my 45. Nothing else changed.

Hard to tell from the sounds but the boat certainly isn't reaching the speeds it was before. I will check plugs and fuel supply next. Probably switch the fuel inlet thingies and see if the problem moves to the other engine.

I wonder, Charlie. From what I've learned about El & Bill's cruising style, maybe that lower unit has a case of "E&B" after 2000+ hours under 4500 rpm. :wink

I know you'll find the solution. Hopefully sooner rather than later....
