SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Saturday we drove up the coast in a car on a highway with no boat in tow (how sad), looking out at the Santa Barbara Channel on a very windy day. Then we drove back the next day in beautiful conditions, gazing out at Santa Cruz, Anacapa, Santa Barbara and Catalina Islands, daydreaming of the adventures we have to look forward to with Dive Cat.

. . . One of these days . . .

Spent the week and T-Day at Lake Cachuma. Did not get in as much fishing as I wanted, too windy. We had 3-4 foot wind chop and I'm out there trying to troll. Forget trying to go up wind, I tried down wind--- had to put both engines in reverse just to keep from going over 1.5 mph--- gave up and found a nice cove for some red ear perch- all released.

Joe and I towed Miss Mirth up to EQ Marine to have the trim tabs installed. Spent a pleasant few hours listening to Joe and Les talk technical. I kept thinking "there is so much more that comes with a C-Dory besides a great boat".

Well, I finaly got the SENSEI down to the factory today for some fixing.Dave S and I hauled her down. The young fella that came out to check her in (Jeff I believe his name was)had never seen one of the old classics and thought it would be fun to work on something from the past....lol.....

He was most appreciative of the fact that I had stripped all the interior stuff out,(fuel tanks, wiring, batteries, etc.) and also that I had removed the motor so that he was working on a clean slate ,so to speak

Any ways, the deed is done and I am boatless for a spell. I am not sure how long it will take but I told him that I wanted it done right and that I would not be bugging him weekly and he appreciated that gesture....lol....
I told him I would see him when we have the big party at the factory.

Took the boat to Center Island Friday for another Turkey Dinner. (I never tire of turkey, mashed potatoes, etc.) Two clear but windy nights, days were calm and beautiful. Crabbing was fair - the commercial guys were out in force in the area. San Juan crabbing will remain open (sport) through January 2nd - I'll get more of those crunchy crustaceans around Christmas time.

I just returned from the "boat house" after replacing all my gear that I took off of the boat for the trip to the factory. I had some warranty work done week before last. It was cold today, about 35 degrees at the boat. Oh, that heater is nice! It snowed like crazy for a few hours but it didn't stick around.

The factory did an excellent job doing the list of small items that needed attending to. I also had the new fuel tank system installed. Great job, and it adds a nice finished look to the interior of the boat. Everything that I asked to be done, was, plus more. The young man that is in charge of the warranty work is a super worker. He did a great job. Thanks C-Dory, you remain at the top of my list. :thup

Tomorrow, maybe some fishing for resident silvers.

Well, still on self imosed house arrest to get some painting done.... Was headed to the lake to play with and measure some things and take pics of C-Byrd... but one of those.... Oh sure dear... I will take a look at the dining room windows while I am painting with white trim" moments hit me.

WOW... I hated to miss the day on the boat because the next trip back up to the lake will be Wednesday of next week....ANOTHER WEEEEEEEEEK...

This is killing me but found a rotten window that really had to be repaired, so started today during daylight...let some stuff attempt to dry overnight...and some more stuff tommorow. Gosh...

Roger, SW has real good prices on tickets between Nashville and Bham. Come on down.... I can swing up to Birmingham and pick you up. I can play next Wednesday...but need to be back home Friday....so I could get ya Wed and drop ya back off in Bham Friday moring for a flight back.

Will Lizbeth let Roger come out and play....

....lol.... Yes Lisbeth would let me come out and play. but I don't fly unless it is a bonnified emergency (life threatening)....lol.... Besides, I gots to stay home and be around to help out for a spell. Lisbeth is going under the knife at 06:00 Wed. morning for a hernia operation so I am in house arrest so to speak
It would be a blast to do some day but a little advance planning and a couple extra days to drive down thataway...lol... I did here in Seattle area to Albany NY in 3-1/2 days pulling a gooseneck cattle trailer,so here to there shouldn't take any more time

Last month we ordered one of the new combo screen and hatchshades from Bomar. This is the kind that fit inside over the V-berth and have both a screen and a shade that roll into the frame. We still have not installed it, but with a little minicell foam it will work out very nicely. Only four screws will be needed to mount the frame inside our hatch. We will let you know how it all works out.

I can tell you the CatyMae is taking a trip back to the dealer tomorrow...and I don't know if she'll be back....I'm so frustrated with leaky new boat....this really sucks!

Give our best to Lisbeth! Our thoughts and prayers are with her!

Brought Anna Leigh home yesterday from the factory. The leak on the starboard side under the rub rail fixed. Sticking head door (when it is warm inside) fixed. Cabin door latch that didn't always latch fixed. Some major scratches in the forward bottom fixed. And the 100 hour service. Spend today putting things back on the boat in anticipation of an overnighter in the next few days.

Just back from two days on the Otter. Plans to trailer down to the southern Chesapeake Bay were scuttled by the trailer brake being locked up and acting hinky (seems were were just discussing this phenomenon on another thread!), so I just dropped her in the water at my marina and headed south. Smooth as glass yesterday, but 40 mph gusting wind today from NW today. Slept comfortably, but a lot of ice on the boat when I got up this morning. Bumpy, slow ride back north on the Potomac, but I got to check out Mallows Bay, where 150 or so wooden steamdriven troop transports built for WWI (but built too late to be used) were burned and scuttled. Big ship graveyard that's been taken over by nature. Saw two bald eagles and the huge nest they built the remains of one ship. All in all, a good wintertime expedition.

Heading out on the boat this morning for a monthly luncheon at a local casino, with some amateur radio operators that I talk to each morning . Moor the boat and then about a mile walk. Then an overnight on the boat up to Friday Harbor, San Juan Island. Supposed to be clear and cold. Good workout for the Wallas.

We are CONTEMPLATING going out this weekend, probably to Gig Harbor, but it is DAMN COLD for this part of the country right now, and at Quartermaster Harbor a few weeks ago, the Wallas was barely able to keep us warm and it was a lot warmer that weekend than it is now...not sure what the Admiral will finally decree.
