SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

We went out fishing for salmon today. I have never actually fished before the season is open for retention but it was so nice we thought we'd give it a try, catch and release only. A perfect day on the sound, smooth as glass and we caught three fish! The biggest was a 14# king, all at Jeff head. I had no ides fish were out there this early. Took a quick picture and tossed em back, what a great start to summer!

Got some cleaning done, dried some carpet again, and some scrubbing. Oiled the teak, and cleaned the splash well too. And finally I got my Vessel Safety Inspection done by the USCGAux. Passed again, and looking forward to having the new sticker on.

The big accomplishment was getting the LED anchor light finished. It took several calls to PERKO, and they sent me plastic collar like the one on my OEM lite mast, that did not come with the other masts I tried, and I got it on and set in place and it works. The new bilge pumps both work and the batteries are both charged and ready for next weekend at Port Townsend.

Actually on the boat instead of working on it! LaConner tonight at the reciprocal dock after nice visits to Langley and Coupeville. Through Deception Pass tomorrow to Port Townsend and Mystery Bay. Home by Saturday. Yesterday's weather was awesome. Summer comes and goes around here!

So far this week I have tuned up and replaced the water pump in my 3.5 nissan. It runs great now. Tore off and cleaned and reinstalled the Carb on my 5 hp mariner/mecury/nissan/ toshtso ( which makes getting the right parts a mother) Once back on I got it dialed in and no it purrs, but does not pump water. Working on getting the right parts for that. I also changed the plugs and oil in the 225 as well as the gear case fluid in all the motors. One day I will use the boats.

Went out solo yesterday. Ran from Everett up towards Langley, dropped a couple of pots and got my five dungies. Played w/ the new radar since it was clear. Gonna do more fine tuning and learning w/ it. Seems like it "saw" everything I did and it even appeared to be properly pointed on the bow, although per the manual a deviation of over 1% should be adjusted. That's a pretty small deviation. :| Next time out I'll use it while going slowly, as I would in fog, and see how it sees forward.

oh YES--- Went out for a ride today-- water was great, dang near flat. I was able to pick up and run WOT for a while. The boat will get up and kick @$$. :D
I'm glad to get rid of the H90-- back to twin H50s. :thup
The 90 was a dog on power and economy. I logged 44.3 nm for 13.5 gals fuel.

catspaw is high and dry! -------- Finally!

On and off the lift, anchoring nearby, for numerous lift adjustments/bunk configurations. Finally got it tweaked just right! 100+ degree weather - hoisting lift beams from the water helped a lot.

Now just gotta find time to USE our new (to us) CD25!!!

Had an appointment at Cap Sante Marine Services to get an oil line replaced on the Yanmar (under warranty). But before that pulled into the Cap Sante Marina so we could go have a sandwich at the Gere-Deli. First person we see as we round the corner at B Dock is Barry on C-Cakes. A few minutes later he's at our slip with a big container of chocolate chip cookies. That's what friends are for.....

Then, just as we were tying up the tug, a man walked up and asked us if we knew Pete Cleland. We said, "Yes, of course, we knew Pete. He was a great guy and we really liked him." The man replied that he was Pete's brother and we responded that we'd been to Pete's funeral. He said he thought he recognized us but it has been two years since Pete died of a heart attack here on a dock in Squalicum Harbor.

Later.... after a huge Rueben sandwich and a nap, we just caught a glimpse of Casey's boat from Florida but by that time we were on our way out of the marina. Over at Cap Sante Marine Services we made a new friend, Dale, the mechanic. At one time Dale and Joe had both worked for Marine Power and Equipment in Seatlle....and the guy's sister had lived in Bandon, Oregon where we'd lived over 30 years ago. It's amazing how this world of ours gets smaller and smaller.

I worked at MP&E in the Lake Union yard - I was there when Mt St Helens blew- we were watching the dust cloud heading towards Seattle before the wind pushed it east.

Yesterday we added a 1000 watt inverter and extra 12 volt socket now we can watch a movie or tv while it rains all afternoon . I added the 12 volt under the table great for a 12 volt coffee pot or endless fan .

Went crabbing yesterday with Kim up in Port Susan. Only 2 keepers. Nice day out, sat on the hook and read "Cat on a Leash" which is great! Jim is quite the author.
Windy NW coming back into Everett, especially the river mouth, but the old C-Dory sure can get through it.

The last couple of trips to Lake Powell have left me wanting a better way to get on and off the boat when we are beached. I came up with a homemade boarding ladder that will reside across the lazarettes when not in use, and can also double as a cooking table with a bit of plywood between the rails. I need to sink a few more screws, apply some paint and nonskid, but I am hoping it will do the job.

If we are bow in, I will tie it to the pulpit, and if stern in, then lay it on the transom.

We Took My son and his girlfreind out on the boat today. We cruised out ot Smith Island on flat water. We set two crab pots and then trolled for salmon near by. We ended up with One 15lbs king and 8 dungees and 5 red rock. It was a great day on the water with family ending in a dinner on my folks boat. I love fresh salmon, its so much better then any resturant. I kill my fish quickly and then cut the gills asap. let it bleed out for 5 mins then in to a bag and the ice chest.

Trolling yesterday and caught a 42 lb. king salmon. Very late for kings here. Also a load of halibut and one coho.
Today we took the CD to Homer and did the tourist trip with friends from Wisc. and Fairbanks..........Homer harbor to Gull Isl. to see all th bird poop, then to Halibut Cove to see the yuppie homes on the rocks, then to Seldovia harbor. Great weather and a nice ride.
Saw several 22's, a 25' and a 25-5 cat in the Seldovia harbor. A local man wanted to buy my 26' ProAngler on the spot as he could not find one anywhere. There is only used ones and they are very hard to find.
My son and family called on the VHF as they were out cruising in their 30' HarborCraft. We met at Seldovia for a short visit.
Had fresh king salmon for dinner after getting back to Ninilchik. Life is great.
