SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Finally got Caiprianha seaworthy and ventured for a short spin outside Everett Harbor. Much to learn, but a stellar day for our first solo cruise on Puget Sound.

We took sweet 16 out for it's last run .She ran real nice We sold her to a nice family up in the panhandle of fl. I hope they chime in soon . Jim

I still have my cc-23 so I'm happy and the Admiral is happy we are a one boat family again .
 
What is it about multiply boats that irritates women? My wife still tells people about the horror of me having 4 boats at one time. As long as you have the room whats wrong with having a bunch of boats. I mean their not like shoes. :wink:

salmon 1 - 8 lbs ~155' water, at 100' deep using a bubble gum spoon behind a chrome flasher.

salmon 2 - 16 lbs ~ 125' water, at 80' deep using same as 1

salmon 3 (today) - 14 lbs ~115' water, at 60' deep using rainbow trout Apex behind a green flasher.

I have the C-Dory, 1 fiberglass dinghy, 1 inflatable dinghy, 2 sailing dinghy's, 6 kyaks. That's 11 boats. I'm getting better. I used to have 13 !

Spent Easter in the Gulf Islands 4 days of really nice weather. Calm seas. Light winds. Two nights in Wallace Island and one at Thetis Island. Boat ran great. Came up with storage solutions and ways to cruise as a couple instead of solo. Cold nights still but gorgeous moon and sunny days. Cruising is here. Came up with a list of needed items aboard and none of it was maintenance or operational squawks. George and Carolyn :smiled
 
Whale watching on the SE bar of Hat Island out of Everett on Sunday. Waved to the crew of Berta's Boy as they were entering river channel by Naval Station Everett.
Observed 3 gray whales feeding in the shallows. We find them out there every year in roughly the same area.
 
In the middle of a total buffing, cleaning & waxing of the 25. The black had gotten oxidized, especially the brow on the cabin top. I forgot how hard this is, even w/ power buffers etc. Using 3M buffing compound, Colinite fiberglass cleaner & paste wax.

I'm maybe 1/4 done; the cabin roof & the entire starboard side are done. My left shoulder is not very happy but the parts that are done are clean & shiny! 8)

Gotto get some non-skid cleaner tomorrow. Back to it....
 
Today I replaced the disc rotors and calipers, bearings, pads, and seals on two of the four trailer axels. Ran out of parts and oomph at just about the same time.
 
Painted the blue stripe port and stbd. It was scuffed up somewhat from the previous owner. Couple more galley mods to finish. Take photos. Launch late next week I hope.

Washed the boat, power washed the cockpit and will wax tomorrow. The season is so close. I wanted to boat today given the nice weather but decided to do the spring cleaning that was so very necessary.
 
The boat is back in the water for the season, sans the kicker. It must have had some water trapped inside when we had a freeze because the block is split wide open. I am certain it was tilted down for all the cold spells we had this year so I'm baffled as to how the water stayed in. Too bad, because after a carb rebuild and a tuneup it ran really good. If it wasn't for the oil and water running down the side it would be great. The thing is an older style 1999 Honda 15 that has probably not seen 100 hours use in its life. Parts to repair would be about $1000 but I think I will let it retire. Repower next year with twin somethings. Transom rebuild next year, too. The cap has separated almost the full width and it is very wet inside. But this year she will do just fine as long as the old Honda 130 doesn't leave me stranded without the kicker to get me back. Funny - the Honda 15 wouldn't start at all last season but I didn't fret about it even though it was nothing more than dead weight. Now that it isn't there I'm worried about it.
 
Fished Hein and Salmon Banks in San Juans on Saturday 4/14. Went 1 for 5. Lots of shakers at Salmon Bank.
Now will wax and get ready for shrimp opener on May 5 and Friday Harbor CBGT.
 
Finished waxing the c dory and tried to answer the universal question. "Why won't my wallas stove work" ah grasshopper, you will not find the answer until you find wisdom or scan, marine.
 
I attached keel guard to both keels of the c-dory. The job went well and it looks like it will help when I engage in my annual assault on docks.
 
I pick up my just-purchased 2006 25 Cruiser tomorrow morning in Oxnard to tow it to its new home in the Berkeley Marina. Professional driver, not me. So I haven't done anything other than deal with the hassle of purchase, transportation, registration, and making arrangements --or, in the case of the trailer, trying to find where I can store it without breaking the bank.

I have really, really appreciated all of the helpful advice from C-Brats in the process. Thanks to you all. You know who you are.
