SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

WE went out and rafted up with one of our friends who bought a world cat and did some barbeque . We were in Johnson's bay right off Marco Isle.
What a treat beautiful weather mid 70's and calm bay . I didn't even have to fire up the Wallas

I had a buddy come by tghe house and add a 30 amp dedicated circuit w/ an outdoor plug that fits the shore power cord. Now I have an oil heater, a fan and the battery charger working off the boat power system. 8)

We went out today in mid 70's calm seas on the gulf beautiful day again . I checked the fuel usage again came up with (statute) 4.66 miles per gallon with usually lightly loaded boat

We went and looked at a few more moorage possibilities for some friends and just had a perfect cruise 1pm-6pm Florida is Great this time of year but come summer I hope to be up in N.C. or Tenn.

So, you don't have to live in Florida (or even have warm sunny weather) to have fun on your C-Dory! A three day weekend for us, took Friday January 14th off and made it a four day weekend! Headed to Bellingham with Daydream in tow, got the BF150 serviced at West Coast Marine, and while they worked on 'er we shopped a bit and spent a few hours at Birch Bay. After we picked up the boat about 6 p.m., we launched in the dark at Squalicum Harbor and motored all the way over to P Dock, where R-Matey Joe was waiting to catch the lines! Had our sundowners on R-Matey, what a beautiful Ranger Tug - I asked if I need to take my shoes off, Joe said I didn't! They come down to Squalicum every day just to sit on the boat, and I can see why. Then to a Chinese restaurant in Bellingham for dinner with the R-Matey crew, then they dropped us off back at Squalicum, where we had a less than peaceful night on P Dock - wind was howling and the waves were rocking us pretty good! There was nobody on P Dock except us and a giant catamaran.

In the morning, I shaved and showered while Patty fixed blueberry pancakes and sausage. After a leisurely breakfast we headed out for Sucia, where I am typing this from thanks to the Verizon MiFi. Putted along at about 7 knots, making it about a 2.5 hour trip. B'ham Bay was its usual snotty self but the water was great as soon as we turned into Hale Passage and for the rest of the cruise. Wonderful lunch, little nap - damn it is just about time for sundowners again! David and Kate are supposed to join us on Anna Leigh tomorrow morning, we shall see, David phoned that there were some issues at his ramp on Guemes.

So, anyway, we are at the dock at Fossil Bay. Waggoner's tells us about 700 boats a day come to Sucia in the summer. Today, this mid-January Saturday, we are alone but not lonesome!

It is raining a bit right now, but we are snug and warm in the cabin with the new Webasto control set to about halfway.

Tomorrow we are going to try to break in (not break) our new trekking sticks on the trails here. Baxter can hardly wait!

Pat, that picture of Daydream alone but not lonely at the dock is wonderful. I thought about setting up a signup list for your event and then locking it. You guys have fun.

Mike, we are having fun, thanks! David called this morning to say he was taking a bye on this one, weather report was not encouraging (weather coming here was MUCH better than the weather report said it would be, which we find is often the case). No longer alone - a catamaran sailboat is now sitting opposite us on the dock, I helped with their lines, chatted a bit. They were in Shallow Bay last night, and it was very rough. Wind was from the south, but we were quite well protected here at Fossil Bay. Webasto is keeping us toasty in the cabin, the Mr. Heater Buddy is keeping us toasty in the cockpit under the camperback! We watched a couple of episodes of the Dick Van Dyke show last night, tonight we think we will watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding, with a big bowl of popcorn! We just returned from a short walk on the trail between Fossil Bay and Shallow Bay. Nobody there.

Walking in the forest here is just awesome! Sun just came out to boot!

Pat, Patty and Baxter, thanks for posting the pictures of your delightful weekend. It makes my heart feel good to know that you are enjoying such a delightful weekend. To say that I am jealous would be an understatement. (Especially, since I started work yesterday morning at 0900 HRS and don't get off work until 0900 HRS tomorrow morning!) However, don't feel bad  for me as when I get off work in the morning I'll be able to enjoy the next 10 days off work (and of course the SBS/CBC) .
Knowing how much the two/three of you have enjoyed previous Snohomish River Delta Cruises, I have just posted information about the up and coming "annual" cruise. Hope you can participate!

Our mini-vacation to Sucia is over, it was just wonderful! We are safely back at P Dock right now, waiting for Austin to come down to join us for lunch. We checked the weather first thing this morning, it said SW 15-25 knot winds and wind waves 1'-4', so we decided to head out and have our coffee on the way before the weather had a chance to build - it never did materialize, we had maybe 1' or less crossing the Strait of Georgia, Hale Passage was like glass, and even Bellingham Bay was a pussycat with following seas (not sure I would want to have been heading out though).

With the new Webasto keeping the cabin toasty (and it does, thermometer says 70 degrees with the control set to about half way) and the Mr Heater Buddy warming the cockpit for morning coffee and reading in the evening, this was just a great winter cruise, we are looking forward to the next one now!

Mark, my Photoshop skills aren't THAT good...we had a good time indeed! Winter boating in the San Juans can be really fantastic, weather (mainly winds) permitting!

You sure that pic of the blue sky isn't a photo-shop?  Looks like a good time. If M weren't in school again...

Now wouldn't THAT have been fun! The trails beckon! I didn't take any pix on the second walk, but on Sunday after lunch we did the Echo Bay - Shallow Bay Spit trail, which was pretty cool too! So many trails, so little time (for some of us anyway!

Cool trip Andersons, if we hadn't left Traveler in N.C. we would have been on Sucia waiting for you. See you this weekend.

Merry and I went out to install thermographs for the Catalina Marine Society this morning at White Point Rock and the Marineland Platform. We managed to get the sand screws in place but couldn't get decent photos. The visibility at Marineland was less than two feet and we had less than four feet at White Point. The platform and surrounding sand was covered with new squid eggs and we managed to see several mating squid when they passed in front of our eyes.
We headed for home, feeling like we had a lousy day when we heard a report of Orcas off Manhattan Beach. We raced up there to find three large females and two juveniles. One juvenile was eating part of a common dolphin the pod had killed earlier. We found the heart and lungs floating nearby.

We fled the frozen prairies of Illinios and launched our boat at Jacksonville Florida and are heading to the Keys!

We enjoyed spending a couple days exploring St. Augustine and are currently at Titusville Municipal marina.
