The Seattle show is doable, and as of this moment, we're planning on being there. I'm going to make the call tomorrow and reserve a room .

One of the reasons I was sold on C-Dory is this group of helpful folks...I've been lurking on the website off and on for a couple of years, and the discussions have really convinced me that this is the style of boat and boating Jennifer and I were looking for. The site is such a great resource, and the folks on it are helpful. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

And thanks for the welcome as well.

Welcome to the board. I hope you get many years of enjoyment with your new(to you) C-Dory!

The C-Dory name 'Nancy H' has now been retired. After 16 years of cruising, adventures, and crossing some scary waters, she has always brought us back safely. The 'Nancy H' has been to Catalina island in Southern California(in Feb), 15 miles up the Colorado River(The Grand Canyon) above Lake Mead, travelled the inside passage to Alaska(twice), and provided us with a travelling home both afloat and on the highway. She has operated for 1019 hours and about 11,000 miles on the original 70 hp Evinrude. She was one of the first boats to display the original C-Brats logo.

Now the 1991 22 cruiser #526 has gone to a new owner and will start a new life with new motors and electronics, and a new name.

Congratulations, Keith and Jennifer, we'll see you at the Seattle Boat Show party.

Keith and Jennifer: Look forward to seeing you in Seattle and the posting of the continued travels of your hull. Having sat and talked a bit with Nancy and Larry....they for sure loved that boat and did enjoy many a good time and sites on her.

ckjackson – congratulations on your purchase of the Nancy H. I know the previous owners of your boat are great people and I am sure you will find that the boat is also. When it became available on this site, I thought I could convince my wife (Terri) to let me purchase it.

It was a beautiful evening, so I ran down the river and dumped in two crab pots. I will go back out about 7:00 in the morning to get them. Any bets on whether they will still be there and undisturbed? I haven't left them out overnight, or unattended at all for that matter, before.
 
Well if it anything like our crabbing experience in Alaska, and if your really lucky, the thiefs will be kind and rebate your pots! One has to be prepared for their next theft! Good luck......!

OK - you are on - it is a bet.
 
This is a sore spot with us - we long ago gave up leaving our crab pots out overnight at Birch Bay. They were almost always ripped off, some times the corner of the Danielson was bent up, sometimes it was just empty, once the whole dang thing was gone. And it sure seems strange there are ample crab in BC (we can crab year round with our BC license a mile from our launch, but we can't legally bring them back, due to the Washington "possession" prohibition applying, at least we have been told), and in Oregon, and probably on the Washington ocean coast, but here is what we have:

Crabbing almost seems like a thing of the past to us. And I forget the exact number, but the recreational crab harvest only amounts to something under 5% of the total - commercial and Native accounting for all the rest.

All bets are off. Both pots were right where Mr. Garmin said they should be, and both held a bunch of good crabs. Almost all males and almost all legal or bigger. Nothing real big, but they are good and firm this year. Heavy, too. I kept 12 of the best and probably dumped another legal limit. Had maybe 15 in each pot.

Now my dad has to make a decision. Does he want us to bring him two or three crabs early tomorrow, or does he want a dozen or so a little later?? How about my sis and bro-in-law? What do they prefer?? My kids stayed with friends last night, but they will be home later so I can drop all four pots this evening and if luck holds have three dozen to keep in the morning.

Pat - now that Crabby Lou has been reborn, you may get back to your old crabby self soon, huh? Oregon keeps the C. River open all year with a daily limit of 12 (don't know what the possession is) at least 5 3/4".

Guess I better call old dad.
 
Holy smokes was it dark this morning! I left the dock about 6:00 to putt out to the river in the dark and fog. Pretty thick fog. I have gone out the channel to the river many times in the dark and fog, but this morning it was really something. As soon as I got past the cannery and the sawmill lights, I couldn't see past the bow rail. The radar and GPS were working fine, but it just seemed darker than usual. I turned back in and waited a while.

Dad's phone is busy - he must be on the durn computer.
 
Well, dad said "whatever you want to do" instead of no thanks on the extra crabs, and that means he wants more. So, the girls and I ran out and dropped all four of our pots for an overnight soak and will get them at daylight. Then we ice whatever crabs we get and take them to dad's alive. There were a lot more boats out there this evening, so I hope the luck holds.

Saw Ray (Mr. Fisherman) at the dock. He and his family are down for crabbing on a friend's big Tollycraft. I saw their crab cooker steaming as we went out and saw Jesse cleaning crab when we came back. Mr. F walked over to my slip to grab a line. Thanks Ray!
 
Cool. Sounds like the crabbing is pretty good.

I was down at Tillamook bay on Friday and managed to scratch up this 31# Chinook. A beautiful day for October. I was actually overdressed. LOL

That's a dandy, FB. FDO!!

We got our three limits of crab this morning. It was kind of iffy whether we would even go out because the wind kicked up overnight. But we made it just fine.
