Snipers are Cowards?

M Moore has commented, regarding the new released movie "American Sniper",
since his uncle was killed by a sniper, he was taught snipers were cowards.
"They shoot people in the back. Invaders r worse."

Apparently, there is a big debate about this in Hollywood.

IMHO M Moore's comment about snipers being cowards is naive. It does not take
into account snipers being at risk as are other combatants while they help protect
their own . They are on scene, shot at and die like other soldiers.

If snipers are cowards, what would you, Mr Moore, call aircraft bombadiers,
drone and guided missile operators, submarine torpedo operators as well as
the big gun men and politicians who never see the enemy they intend to kill?

Aye.

The Hollywood elitists have their panties in a bunch because a film that doesn't follow their political narrative is doing so well.

Just heard that "American Sniper" is setting some all-time records.

As to snipers being cowards, Not the ones I met. Nor are they weaklings or weirdos. And I don't think it is easy. I think Michael may be deluded.

Foggy, I think we could agree. And they save lives, over and over again.

I remember from my 7th grade american history class that the British thought that the American soldiers that fought for our independence were cowards for the way they that fought. That anyone that took cover behind a rock or tree was a coward sniper. But this was a time in history when they fought a "gentleman's" war. Now there is a term that has to warm your heart and soften the blow, gentleman's war. Troops in rank and file marching toward each other only to stand and face sometimes withering fire. This was also the time local towns people would pack picnic lunches and watch the battle from the nearest hill. Times have changed.

Historically Snipers have a high death rate. This may have changed somewhat in modern warfare.

I won't enter the political part of this debate (which probably does not belong on C Brats), but I always support our military, and am proud to have served.

Left this alone first time thru.

Thankfully, I had to look up and find out who this Moore cat was.
Conrad is target on.

I guess I am living right knowing I am enjoying my C-Brats and boating enough to not have a clue who he was...other than thinking prior to finding out, my life is better not knowing folks like this person...notice, I did not call him a man.

Would make a pretty good target himself...the paper kind.

Thanks to all who have served in any capacity to keep our country free as to allow us to haul our boats and enjoy our fellow boating friends as our free will pleases.

I am out for a bit of target practice.

Cheers! :beer

I agree. Nicely said!

When a sniper is hunting you from cover hes a "coward" When a sniper is covering your ass form cover hes a "hero"

The snipers at Leningrad where some of the highest awarded soldiers of the Russian army, the Germans had bounties on there heads.

Sniping or shooting from cover with out exposing your self is just good tactics.

And as for that "gentleman's war" that Only worked for the officers. And who really needs then anyway?
