smooth moves boat seat in a c-dory?

Looks like it might make the helm seat too high.

I swapped out the original CD seats for Attwood suspension seats. Even at $300 each they are cheaper than a single Smooth Move. They have a couple inches of suspension and only raise the seating surface about 1 inch. Pictures in my photo file under "modifications." It's my favorite modification.

Harvey,

Attwood has a bunch of models and I had some difficulty getting the one that I wanted. Also, pricing was all over the place. I just tried to Google the same model and am again having difficulty finding anybody that actually has them in stock. Attwood had models with similar names and even the sellers didn't know what they were shipping. I had to return two seats (through Walmart) before I got the one that I wanted and then quickly ordered another using the same UPC. Walmart now shows that they aren't currently available in any color.

The model was the Centric SAS. There is a Centric model and a Centric 2. The Centric has a spring system and the Centric 2 has a flexible mesh under the seat. Both supposedly have 3 inches of travel and can handle 4Gs of force (in case you go over a waterfall?). They are allegedly available in a huge selection of colors, but when I tried to get blue trim to match my boat, nobody had them. Actually, Walmart had blue in an Attwood model without suspension and that's what they sent. I ended up finding them in off-white for about $225 each.

If the vendor below actually has these in stock, this would be a great price. I found that when I tried to order them most sellers said that they were back ordered with no expected stocking date. I suspect that they are being drop shipped from Attwood and the seller doesn't know that they aren't available until they try to get them.

Here is the model that I got. I thought that the springs might have a longer life than the Centric 2 mesh.

The seating surface was raised enough so that the ergonomics didn't feel as good, i.e., my feet felt like they were dangling a bit. I built a raised and sloped footrest that adds to the comfort of the new seat.

Thanks Mark.
