Sliding electrical cover

For those that have made the sliding cover over the fuse panel: Did you screw thru the wood slides to the back of the bulkhead?? Or use good ol 5200 super stick?

I used an adhesive to mount the wooden slide tracks for the wiring panel cover. Adhesive was easy and creates a secure mount. 5200 is a good choice but there are many construction adhesives which will glue wood to fiberglass.
Depends on how much stick you want and how permanant you want it.

Well, this isn't like the hull type gelcoat. Just a bulkhead. In the first two or three months of boating, the factory screwed in fiberglass cover came loose from the vibration. After I did the track screwed in cover it never came loose again. Glue is good too. Not sure how you would get the two tracks to stay where you want them while the glue is drying. Maybe two screws on each to keep them in the right placement while the glue dries.
 
It seems to me that the under-dash and back of the bulkhead are cored construction, about 1/2 in thick. A short screw can go thru the back side of the fiberglass and not stick out in the cabin or up thru the dash. :teeth
 
When I finally climbed into my first CD22 on the lot in Anchorage last week, one thing I noticed was the wiring cover on this particular boat was made of what appeared to be vinyl and attached with snaps. Is this the way all the 2005's are? Simple solution, I think.
