Site Update Update

It's been a while since I had anything to share on the C-Brats site update, but here's the latest. Things are moving slower than expected, but we're seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.

For those of you who participate at the Tugnuts, you can get a hint of what's coming here at the C-Brats. If you've not seen it, they just completed their site conversion to the same underlying software we'll be using - Xenforo. The Tugnuts had the advantage of converting from much newer software than what we're running here, but it was still a monumental task.

I've not been affiliated with the Tugnuts for a while now, but I got the ball rolling with their site conversion before handing the site off to Ranger/Cutwater. That included bringing in the talented developer who just completed their conversion - Ken Payne. Ken did a great job over there, and is doing the bulk of the heavy lifting at the C-Brats as we work our way through an even more complicated site conversion.

We're now at or near the top of Ken's very busy list and are hoping to have something to show you all soon.

Thanks for the heads up. The C brats site appeared to be down for a few hours yesterday. Wow--the "new" Tugnuts site is much faster and seems more user friendly. Sounds like progress.

Thanks !!!

Technically not down, just disabled Dr. Bob - hence the message shown when you and others tried to access yesterday. Disabling the board is related to the site upgrade. It's the only way to get a consistent, accurate snapshot of the C-Brats. Ken needed a site export for his latest development site.

It could happen again in the coming weeks, just know if/when you see it that's a sign of progress!

Apparently there are some people on the FB C-Dory group that have tried to get accounts set up on C-Brats but have been unable to do so.

I saw that, but my FB info was provided there and I've received no contacts.

There's also an email link on the C-Brats registration signup page for anyone encountering issues. Nothing sent there either recently.

Good news! I moderate a small travel site (WanderTheWest.com) that just moved to Xenforo in late May or early June. With very few exceptions, the members love it. The moderator tools are expanded, taking a number of actions off the plate of the administrators. The learning curve for members is very small, and you’re going to love how easy it is to add images. :)

I suspect most those folks are chronic FB users and refuse to take the time that might be necessary to make C-Brats work for them. This site is pretty simple on a laptop or desktop. And I am able to see it on my iPhone (but small print sucks, no matter what I'm looking at. lol) Perhaps after the transition to the new platform, more of them will come over. Colby

Well, that's not a good example....LOL!
