Does the front dinette seat on a 2004 22 flip to face forward?

I suppose I should really ask does the front seat on any model year 22 face forward?

The first year the factory offered that option was in 2005. It was based on a design developed by the One True Brat (TyBoo Mike) who had modified his C-22. A few other Brats put the mod into earlier models.

My 2004 22' cruiser dinette seat does not face forward; was not an option. Not a big deal for me. I convert to a couch and continue with the under seat storage which is important to me.

The design/mod was well thought out and executed :thup and copied by many.

Our 2004 22" did not come from the factory with a forward facing seat (aka Barber chair). However, when I ordered the boat through Les at EQ Marine he custom built the forward facing seat. (Les did the same for Bill and Dana's boat as they ordered their boat just prior to my order). Our boats were in the womb at the same time.

The Jenny B (a 2005) was ordered in late 2004 and the only reason we didn''t get a floor model 2004 was because there weren't any in the Admiral's color choice, namely Mocha.

We spent a lot of time in the 2004's while ordering and the only difference I could see visually between the 2004 and 2005 was the "Barber Chair" forward facing seat option which included the two piece table top that was part of the forward facing seat mod.

I have only a brief view of the 2006, and one change I saw was the method the table was attached to the hull. My 2005 table would pop out of it's holding brackets if I leaned on a corner. The 2006 table was locked in better so I asked for and got a kit from the factory to "upgrade" the mount. The other change involved the fuel tanks. Later 2005 and 2006 had somewhat larger tanks and a better method of cosmetically covering and mounting the tank. My 2005 and earlier had a cover and tank mount that used all screws, including screwing into the deck! Later 2005 on had a mount that was fiberglassed into the deck and the cover screwed to it.

Don ~

What was the "upgrade" to the table mounts?

I have a 2006 and as you mentioned it pops out of its mounts if anyone places a hand on either corner. Very inconvenient.

Thanks!

I have a 2005 22' Cruiser but not real sure if it is called the Commuter or Sport Cruiser. The passenger side does have a seat that faces forward and there is also another bench behind both each seat in the front. The drawback to this model is that it does not have the sink or dining table.

Hope this helps,

Kevin

On my '94 22 Cruiser, I modified the table hold down brackets by putting a thumb screw into the tab through the bracket. It caused a very good friend of mine to fall and suffer a compound fracture of his right ankle when he fell in a heavy sea when the table gave way. Lots of discussion aboout that in an earlier thread.
