SeaStar Kicker Tie Bar?

Does anyone have a photo of how your SeaStar steering is connected to the kicker? My first attempt, trying to use the studs on the tiller (where the old tie bar mounted) causes a bind. I may just tap one of the holes on the SeaStar side, where it connects to the Honda tiller studs. Previously, it was on the engine side.

Other ideas welcomed!!!

I finished the prototype kicker tie bar today. If it works well, I will make a nicer copy.

I used some aluminum channel that I had in the shop, and mounted it on top of the part of the SeaStar that links the cylinder to the engine tiller. The stainless piece was from the old setup, and mounted to the two threaded studs that are just above the cylinder.

You can see a bit of burring on the SeaStar link that occurred when I tried to hook it up just as it was when I had the Teleflex on. I need to get in there with a bit of emory cloth and some black paint.

I have built a few set ups like yours. You can bend the rod itself to make it work. It does not have to straight. I had to use a 4 inch spacer of square aluminum tube to get the kicker mount high enough to not bind.

Consider inverting the mounting stud on your main engine as you did on the kicker. That should lessen the angle. They work fine upside down.

Just an idea.

Chris, I tried that. When inverted, there was not enough clearance for the plate to fit. :smileo
