Where is a good place to view the Blue Angels from the Sound. I have no interest in going to Lake Washington.

Also....I'll be on a Coast Guard Aux. patrol Saturday night and Sunday morning, around the Tacoma area. If you see a white Campion with CG ensign, give me a friendly wave. We will not board you! :)

If you are on your own boat, it's always crowded in Elliot Bay and across to Bainbridge Is. Last year I bit the bullet and got on an Argosy cruise boat and left the driving to them. It was great, and included a nice buffet. This year we will be on the stern of the Norwegian Pearl watching the Blue Angels. Then it's off to Alaska at 4PM. Life is good.

I go every year on the lake and don't think you are gong to see anything from the sound.

Go to the lake and get south of the 9 bridge or just north of it if you cant. Its a great show and well worth the time and effort. You can see the pilots smile on the turns. I just love it but will be gone during the show this year.

Tips for having a good time:
1) when you go to the circus dont expect the opera. for get the rules of the road and go slow and relax. others complete lack of common sense and or knowledge to operate a boat is not personal to you. Their doing it to everyone.

2) show early and leave late. I launch the day before some where and leave the boat in the water or over night on the boat near the show. Hang out and have a drink on anchor or drifting and enjoy the other show, it's like the circus parade with eye candy

3) Dont anchor. even if you stay the night haul up the anchor and go drift with the crowd. almost no one anchors and its really to deep most places. leave the motor in neutral in case you need it or the kicker if you have one.

4) enjoy the circus for the circus. You will see people doing all sorts of funny stuff and if it's hot you will see all sorts of stuff your wife would rather you did not see. bring the binocular and/or a zoom lens.

Just a correction to my post-The Argosy cruise did leave from Kirkland on Lake Washington. In years past, when we had a slip at Newport Marina, we always took our 22 out and anchored close to shore anywhere south of the I-90 bridge. Like Tom says, go early, leave late, and just look up. It's quite a wonderful show.
