We got this 19 pounder about 20 miles out of Westport on a white hootchie.

There's a lot of debate about where chinook go hang out for the 3-4 years they're in the salt. I believe I now have evidence that some may travel as far south as Colombia. Not only that, I may have evidence that they engage in illegal activity as well. I submit for you Scar Fish, reminiscent of a character finely portrayed by Al Pacino. I've seen a lot of fish with fresh cuts from nets, lines, seals, etc., but never a healed wound. The size of this scar makes me think the wound was received as a smolt and healed while in the salt. Pretty interesting how the scar is so perfectly formed on this mid-teener.

From the missing adipose fin, that looks to be a hatchery-reared fish. If the wound was incurred in the hatchery it would have been hard to see at the time of release. If released as sub-yearlings, which is typical, they're around 50-75mm long at that point.

It was a tagged fish, too, so the fish checker took the head. I filled out an info card so I'll get a report of where it was reared. I agree, it looks like a wound received while in the hatchery.

Hey, get your facts right! Tony Montana came from Cuba! The Columbians killed him.

Nice fishy fishes!

nice fish, crazy scar I have not seen one that wide before, and if it was from a net and that wide i would assume some sort of scar would be on the other side.
