Does anyone know if this product will remove long term salt deposits? Will fresh water use do it as well?

I bought my boat from a salt water site and have flushed it in fresh water many times but notice the cooling stream is not as strong on one motor. Wonder if a salt build up would do this.

Impellers were changed 50 or so hours ago so they should be ok.

Before you get too wound up with Salt Away, I recommend that you check the orifice on the motor that has the weaker stream. It is not uncommon to have a spider or some such other critter get in there and make a nest that either stops or limits the flow.

Others may chip in on this one, but I also believe that the flow of water out the "pee" hole is not really an indicator of how much water is flowing through the engine, but rather an indicator that there is cooling going on. Apologies in advance if this belief is hogwash.

Agree with Steve. One of my twin Hondas will get a weak stream a couple times each season. Whatever debris is causing it is farther upstream than the hose. If I pull the hose off and run a small wire in the orifice on the block then the stream will be fine for a long time. Sometimes I have to do this twice a year. No idea what causes it.

Here is the quick fix that I have used very successfully when all of the other methods have failed, therefore this is my first choice if I've got the equipment available. While the engine is running (being flushed with water of course), take an air compressor, with a narrowed tip on the hose end and blast air into the pee hole. Whatever is in there will probably be blown out your exhaust, so you'll never see what the foreign body obstruction was. I've tried this without the engine running (being flushed) and had no success, but when I was circulating water with the engine running it made all the difference!

When using a hose to flush your engines. Be cautious about using too much pressure :smileo Only use enough pressure to ensure water flow out of the exhaust. Too much pressure can damage the impellor vanes in the water pump. :sad Personally I use a large plastic garbage can,(with a couple of table spoons of detergent) that way I know it's the pump doing the work, not city water pressure. :wink

I agree with Jack regarding the problems with using a hose and muffs. My Honda 8 went through an impeller with less than 20 hours on the motor when I used a hose.

Without SSL or some other encryption method your credit card information is transmitted over the internet in clear text which is susceptible to being intercepted.

All banks, credit card companies, and most online internet vendors use SSL to protect customer data. Besides the "S" in the first part of the URL name SSL protected webpages also will display a Padlock somewhere on the webpage (placement of the padlock is different for various versions of Internet Explorer or other browsers).

This is not an indictment of the servers used by Quality Marine Products. I am merely stating that they have not gone thru the extra effort to insure the transmission of their customer's data (such as credit card #'s) is encrypted while being transmitted over the internet.

In this day and age of mass internet usage vendors should go to all extremes to insure their customers data is as well protected as possible.

I wound up phoning Quality Marine Products (QMP) to order one of their BB1 Flushing bags instead of using their unsecured website to order.

The gentleman I spoke to - named Bill - is apparently the owner of QMP. Bill comes across as an extremely nice, friendly, and helpful person.

Anyway, Bill says they are in the process of redoing their web site to add SSL security. They also will be adding additional products to their flushing bag offerings.

So look for their redesigned website pretty soon.
