As someone new to fishing, boating and C-Dorys, I was unclear how to interpret something said in their Spring edition about fishing at Buoy 10: the article says that you should have a "deep hulled boat". I don't think that describes a C-Dory. Any comments? Thanks, Jim

That would be a matter of choice. A deep v hull will cut thru the chop and heavy seas at a faster speed but I do not think that is a requirement. a c-dory will hanlde the big rollers better at a far slower speed then the v-hulls making for a better ride. Many here have fished off of buoy ten in c-dorys. I have fished off of vancouver island in mine just fine.

Every boat has its plus and minus. I am not as fast as my freinds seasports and bayliner but I burn a lot less fuel on the same trip to the fishing grounds. any where from half to a third

your boat will do splendiferic, all you need to do to make it a proper B10 boat is hang a bunch of tires off the gunnels for use as bumpers.....maybe an automatic weapon mounted up front would be a good option also. The slow planing speed of the C-D hull is a plus when it gets real snoty, it's nice to have a controllable boat at slow speeds rather than a whallering around deep v.

The SSJ folks are a pretty good bunch, we had them aboard for some quality fishing in 07, fun time, good folks. They had a pretty good write up of the adventure in the 08 issue of the "Traveling Angler"

Didn't they also mention in that article that some people take car-toppers out there? Might have been another article I read. There are a lot of guys that go out in their sleds and those are by no means deep hull boats.

But it's really about choosing the day and watching the weather. It can get so snotty in the B10 area, I don't care what you're in. Other times it can be so nice you could fish out of a dinghy.
