There is a very small space between the top of the rubrail and the boat. Should I cover this with a bead of clear silicone? If yes, what do you recommend? Thanks.
 
Not a bad idea to run a bead of clear silicone along the top. You can use maksing tape above and on the railing--and use a small hole in the caulking gun you put the silicone down with.
