Roof rack for a Yakima Cargo Carrier

I'm hoping someone can suggest a cost-effective roof rail system for a 22 high-top. Ideally, I would like to mount it onto the existing grab rails and be high enough to clear the high-top roof. I've seen others use Yakima A1 w/ extensions, but those are a lot more $$$ than I'm willing to invest. I've also seen mention of Walmart universal racks, but I cannot figure out which have enough clearance and what kind of bracket is required. Your help is much appreciated.

You can make it yourself out of PVC pipe and electrical conduit. Use PVC that allows the conduit to fit inside for strength. Both are pretty easy to cut and join. You can probably find examples if you search this site.

Sorry to post this twice today, but I also replied to a similar "kayak rack" thread.

I considered the budget plastic/conduit pipe options but opted for stainless railing components that match the boat hardware.

The Yakima cargo rack might be able to clamp straight onto the 7/8in tubing if you make the rack risers tall enough to clear the high top roof with some wiggle room for the Yakima clamps.

Here's an older thread about a PVC rack along with a linked picture.
