retrieve without getting in the water?

Thank you all for the great information. I will be visiting Big 5 Sports soon to get my waders. That seemed the easiest solution. I think I will also get a set of guide-on posts and I will look into a ramp or walkway of some sort on my trailer tongue (although it will probably have to have hand rails as I am not so steady as I would like). You are all most helpful and much appreciated.

I have to ask about your boat name: POHAKU. It means rock/stone in Hawai'ian. You can understand my obvious curiosity. 8)

Amanda, I go back to the boat on the trailer tongue occasionally, and have thought about a walkway too. Take a look though, before insisting on the handrails. Set a step-stool out and stand on it where the walkway would be and see if you really need handrails. There are lots of handholds close, when you look at it from that perspective, (at least on the 22,) winch post, anchor, boat bow, bow railings included.

As to not being so steady, me either, (and I don't even :beer :cocktail ) but after a few hours or a few days on the boat, even my pickup seems to be rocking with the waves, and it isn't the music either :wink

I have been imagining retrieving the boat by hooking the winch strap on the bow eye from the dock as was described by one of you. I think I want to try that. I will be taking Pohaku to Elephant Butte Lake in New Mexico on December 18 so I will get to try it then. (Pohaku is the middle name of the son of a USMarine I helped raise. So Pohaku is like a grandson to me. Pohaku's mom is Hawaiian...the Marine is due home to Hawaii from Afghanistan by December 6. I am holding my breath that God keeps him safe.)
