raymarine Axiom+ 9 RV - no longer getting chart detail?

I bought an axiom+ 9 RV in December for Xmas and installed in February.
Charts were working well (lighthouse) for a few months and a few trips.
Today, went down and turned on the mfd but not getting any chart detail.
SD card "seems" fine (i.e when I pull the sd card out, the chart listing won't show)
Opened a support ticket with Raymarine and followed a FAQ I found (to make sure "detail" was selected for the chart, etc...).

Anyone run into a similar issue with these new units?
Why doesn't stuff just work anymore? :)

You may want to go into chart detail, on your MFD. The charts should still be on your card, even if they have not been updated.

I got a similar message on my screen, I will update, but it was not easy to do at that time.

Not particularly happy with Raymarine support. I would post pictures of what they needed, but there would often not be a response for several days even after I post reminders. Could be they were stumped. I had a temporary work around of resetting the system to factory and sometimes that would recover the chart detail.
They did finally post that they thought an update would fix the issue - and after downloading the update it does show the chart detail. But I haven't used it enough to trust the "update" as the fix.

I did use my ipad with coastal navigator while the chart plotter was down, and frankly I was very happy. The axiom+ is a very nice screen, but I just had a throw away very old ipad around (gps capable) and it seemed "fine". I used the ipad as a back up plotter. I wouldn't say that the axiom was that much faster in rendering compared to this 8 year old ipad. The axiom+ screen itself tends to get pretty hot as well.

I have seen people post solutions with Arduino boards/controllers and maybe if I ever had more time I would go that route. But, the reason I think most buy a MFD is that it should just work with little fuss. I guess as I make more use of the sonar (still need to install the rv-100 - using the old sonar/transducer for now) I may be happier - but I just wonder if some "off the shelf" electronics are simply better (more/diverse applications, more flexible, etc..), especially when looking at cost and reliability.

About a year and a half ago, FLIR/RayMarine was sold to Teledyne. It is possible that since the sale, there has been difference in service and availability. I had two RayMarine units on the C Dory25, and I have one on the Caracal Cat, which is the latest model. (Downscan/real vision). I find it not as intuitive as Garmin--but on the other hand, it worked very well for navigation and fish finding/depth, as well as Radar and interface with autopilot.

I do believe that the RayMarine is not as easy to use as Garmin...

On my new Axium+ I found that the Nav aids were VERY SMALL. In working with Rodger's Marine we found that changing the chart detail brought the "daymark and buoys" up another size and now they stand out above the other stuff so I can find them 8)

So far, my charts, (Navionics) running on the Lighthouse OS, have worked well.

had this problem with an older raymarine and it was the declutter button, which is self hiding and hard to find if you dont know but easy to hit by accident.
