PSA derby saturday

On Saturday we did good. Got a total of four to the boat. One wild over 18lbs got turned loose and three we kept. Three more all came loose and one got ate by a seal. Calm water all day. We fished the out going from south of point no point all to the point and followed it around the point and down the beach until tide change started coming back the other way. Most of our hit's were around the tide change and in the tide rips. We followed the rip basically. We, my buddy rich, and I took second place in the derby. The club weighted in about 40 (66 tickets sold for the derby) fish all between 15.5 and 9lbs cleaned, we have to clean the fish first because the marina does not want us cleaning them there, so these fish are really 17 to 10 lbs. Lots of bait out there and all the fish were full of candle fish and krill. All our hit's were on coho killers and green flashers. I am using only uv flashers now and they seem to be upping my hit ratio.

I was out a Jeff Head this AM (monday). Little bait, but managed to bring one native about 12 lbs alongside boat. Had another one on that was a LDR. I will be going out tomorrow and Wednesday. Ramp checker said the fish are still "near Port Townsend", but sounds like they maybe at PNP as you say.

Might run there tomorrow morning.

For those of us in the over 50 "prostrate challenged" bracket it would have been nice if they could have chosen a different acronym other than "PSA"!

Forgive me but it is a slow day in the Dominican Republic where we are visiting our son and our house and I couldn't resist.

Now undecided between a 16 and a 22 but getting ever closer.

PS Sounds like a great fishing day.

If you are trying to decide between the two of those, you may as well go for the 22, because you'll end up there eventually any way.... (you don't need to ask me how I know... :wink )

Now you are sounding like my wife, Dave! Believe it or not, it isn't the money difference between the two. The challenge is tow vehicles. I can easily pull a 16 with the minivan I already have. Or even the 2009 Hyundai we are looking at buying. But a 22 means a third vehicle with all the hassles that implies. But I am getting there.

Thanks for your advice,

Steve

PS Did I mention I hate the "buying and selling of cars" process?
