Took my recently acquired 16 angler out for the first time today. I'm used to small aluminum boats. This boat feels like a much bigger boat than 16".
The outboard is a Suzuki df40, it has a prop 11 5/8 diameter w/ a 12 pitch.
Hole shot performance is great but it tops out real quick...@ 6000 rpm I'm doing 24 mph. Thinking of going to a 13 or 14 pitch. Anybody thy this?
Or is cruising speed 21 mph on this boat? Thanks for the info.

I own a 14' and have recently inquired about similar issues. I come from a 17' Edson bow rider. The c-dory is more of a bow up boat and the consensus is that 20 mph is a good cruising speed. At higher speeds one experience bow shear or bow steering. My opinion is that you could try more of a speed prop but might find the higher cruising speeds uncomfortable. Just my opinion.

Cheers. Adam

I don't know anything about props, but, in my opinion, 21 mph cruising speed on calm water is exactly right for a 40hp. on a 16 footer. You are right also about it feeling like a much bigger boat . Just enjoy it as is for a while.

I settled on a Quicksilver prop..11 1/5 x 14. A little slower out of the hole but can now cruise at 4400 rpm ( seems like the motors sweet spot) and still do 21 mph. Top out at 28 mph.
I've had it out a few times now and like how easy it is to manage. I really like being out of the rain/wind/cold!
Next trip will be a real fishing trip. Can't wait. Tight lines.
