I installed a small chartlight at the co-pilot seat location.
First, I bought a cheap USB LED light with a goose neck on Ebay from China for about $5.
I also bought a stand-alone red LED element with the right parameters and a resistor at radio shack to set the brightness. Some info about LED's and current limiting resistors is excerpted in the text here: http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=22374
I soldered the LED and resistor in place of the white one inside the reflector end and closed it back up. Then I hogged out a small block of teak an glued the other end of the goose neck and a small switch into it. Inserted a screw, voila! - a flexible-mount gooseneck nav light for less than $15:

I used a small c-shaped clampy-thingy with some rubber glued into it to act as a holder/anti-rattle mount for the end when not being used.

The outlet behind is for the window AC - not part of the project
