Gary, just curious what's involved in enrolling in Nexus, and why did you chose to do so? (I could google what's involved, but just being lazy. lol) Colby
We chose Nexus because you do not need to tie up to the dock and use the phone on the wall to check in. There are also many more locations where check in is allowed. You give your estimated time of arrival, purpose of the trip, and length of stay. You need to arrive at the reporting station before your declared ETA and wait until that time has lapsed. If no officer is present at the reporting station at that time, you are free to go.
It also gives you trusted traveler status when flying. Listed below are some of the benefits from the web that also apply when you fly.
Benefits also apply to TSA PreCheck
"Expedited security screening
Shorter lines
Faster processing times
Keep shoes, belts, and light jackets on
Don't need to remove laptops or compliant liquids from carry-on bags
Benefits of NEXUS
Expedited processing between the U.S. and Canada
Can use the Nexus card in place of a passport when traveling between the U.S. and Canada
Includes Global Entry benefits at no additional cost"
We have started our second 5 year term with the Nexus Marine program and like it. Gary
