Price of Stove Alcohol

Yesterday I went into Worse Marine for my usual 'deposit.' I passed by the Soot-Free Stove Alcohol shelf to pick up my usual gallon for the year, I WAS SHOCKED -- $29.99/gallon, $14.99/quart. Thought there was something wrong with the tags, nope. Checked on line at home, same. Hmmm, maybe we ARE in a recession, that's absolutely ridiculous.

I'm checking the price on Smirnoff, will double for medicinary purposes...

I used Shellac thinner(Denatured Alcohol) from the local Hardware Store. Same stuff, sold as work. West marine sells it at Fun price!! Have a good one! :beer

Hmmmm..............?!?!

I've got an unopened gallon in my Sea Ray, which we never operate on alcohol.

Better sell while the market's up!

Should'a forseen the opportunity in the fuel/energy crisis and got a corner on the alcohol market!

OTOH, I wonder what the oil companies are paying the mid-west farmers and converters per gallon for ethyl alcohol? $30 a gallon?

Imagine running your car/truck/boat on E85 gasoline (85% alcohol) with the alcohol ingredient priced at $30/gallon! And don't forget that E85 only has about 72% as much energy per gallon as gasoline, so you 'll need much more of it than gas, comparatively.

Pedal cars, anyone?
