porta potty privacy

I have a Toilet extension seat I had to get when my hip socket was replaced. It has arm rests, a back rest and it fits right into a 5 gallon bucket. :smileo As far as privacy....I'd suggest a full length poncho. :wink

Actually, there is a toilet seat made to fit on a 5-gallon bucket. Hardee's may want to try that....
As for Porta Potty Privacy - it might be simpler to get one of the black-out eye shades that day sleepers sometimes use. ...at least the Porta Potty user wouldn't see anyone looking.

As I read that I immediately envisioned everyone else on the boat wearing the shades... until I read the rest of the sentence  Even on other, bigger boats (with a full, private head) it's been common to just ask anyone else below to step out into the cockpit for a short while, when a bit more privacy is desired (and there is always turning up the stereo too). When on Powell last year - on a C-dory like boat - we put the PP in the cockpit overnight which was great. The view rivaled that of the best-sited outhouses! 8)

When 'ya gotta go, 'ya gotta go.
That does a lot for eradicating privacy issues.
Grandma used to say, "Never fight Mother Nature."

Aye.

Yeah, this is definitely a delicate topic but since it was already posted I'll jump in!

My question is to the 19: Can you sit in the v berth and use the porta potty with the curtain closed? Like the 22?

I'm gonna be spoiled having a v berth after coming from a 16 Angler. Lol.

We use the bucket with seat and top arrangement. Works great, but then again it is still legal to dump over the side in Canada, in tidal waters off shore. We carry the porta-potti as well, keeps us legal in US waters when a holding tank is required. We have only used it once in 4 years.
As for privacy. We are a married couple.......seen it all, done it all. So privacy is not an issue. If we had guests who really, really needed to go. We would put up the aft cabin curtains and go stand in the cockpit so as to give them some privacy.
These are little boats, people should remember that mod-cons are basic, just like camping.

Martin.

The porta potty setup in the 19 is the same as the 22. The berth curtain can be closed while a person is on the potti inside. No standing of course. Our little one uses it sometimes when she is in a shy mood. We do move it out to the cockpit overnight.

I think that the most elegant solution has already been discussed. I just added pictures of mine (an enclosed head on my CD 16) with some minor technical improvements. This is why there is no rear view mirror at my helm.

I'm a 16 that has figured it all out, my toilet "Reliance fold and go" Amazon of course, your waist goes into a zip lock bag that seals well. Back to the privacy issue, all you need to do is go thru the forwad hatch and wait out front while your guest takes care of business. Its even comfortable its about a foot tall and i set it up in front of the splash well. The bag you can not see threw so no one feels uncomfortable even you had to drop the "Kids off at the pool"
