Poling Platform?

I did a search but may not have done it properly...

Does anyone have a poling platform on their 22?

I am thinking it would be a wonderful addition, especially if it has hand rails all the way around.

Not only would it make a wonderful fishing platform, it would also allow more storage space.

Thanks!

The only one I can think of is what Greg on Redƒox put on his 22 Classic. I know he used to be active on this board, but not sure if he visits anymore. He has his own website at C-Dory Redƒox.

He does a lot of fabricating - I tend to think of him as Alaska's answer to Jessie James (of West Coast Choppers). Here is the best picture I can find that shows what his boat looks like: Davit Project

We carry a 12' collapsible pole with a frog foot and have used it on rivers and other shallow low water visibility areas where we didn't want to chance prop damage. Though most of the time in shallow water I just go over the side with hip waders. Not much room to mount a platform that wouldn't be in the way more than useful unless I'm thinking of something different then you. The way it is now poling the boat where you want to go can be somewhat difficult especially with a breeze, that's why most of the time its easier to pull it around with waders. Where there's a will most of the time there's a way if that's the set up you want and someone here just may have already come up with it.

I know it is called a poling platform, although I believe it would also make a great fishing platform. Another thought is that with proper "rails" around it I could tie a cooler or 2 on it.

I imagine there are places that custom build them, so I was hoping someone here had one & could show me pictures. The ideal setup would be to have it built so it extends aft and does not take up room in the cockpit.

I do not know how this would affect the balance of the boat. I have no idea what a platform would weigh.

C-Gypsy has a Honda 90 and a Honda 9.9 on her transom. Not sure how that compares to twin Hondas in weight, nor how much more I can add before the the handling is affected.

I would also wonder about the strength & integrity of the gunnels. Is my idea valid?

No doubt a nice polling platform could be built, but I'm of the opinion that the 22 is a bit big and akward for such a device and would be unmanageable in any significant wind, especially considering the cabin windage.
