PlasDeck Cockpit Sole in Valkyrie

Hi Brats,

After having used PlasTeak on Valkyrie's cabin sole for two years, we finally had them put their PlasDeck flooring on our cockpit floorboards and it is gorgeous! It is much thicker than the indoor material, UV-resistant and has an EXTREMELY non-skid surface, which has an almost tacky feel to it. I don't think we're going to have to put that non-skid galley shelf-liner material under the cooler this year. A bit spendy, but we don't regret doing it. I kind of justified it as doing our part to help the local economy.

Pics in our album: pages 5 and 6.

Regards,

Nick

Beautiful job! I am fairly new to the site and I am also anxiously waiting for my boat delivery date. I have tossed thoughts in my mind as to what to use for flooring in the cabin. One thought that always comes to mind is whether to lay the floor flat or to follow the conture of the actual floor line. From looking at the picture it seems that you flattened it before laying down the PlasDeck. Could you share what was done?

Thanks,

Ramon Sr.,

First of all, welcome to the site.

The flooring in the cabin is PlasTeak, which is only 2mm thick and very flexible. It is typically glued down, but we just placed it on the floor and it easily follows the floor's contours and doesn't slide around. We decided not to glue it down because it is so easy to take it out and put it on the dock to scrub down with a deck brush.

FYI: PlasDeck is much thicker, heavier, more expensive and not nearly as flexible. PlasTeak is for inside use, PlasDeck for outdoor applications.

Hope this helps.

Really nice floorboard solution Nick! :thup We want to come up with a solution for our floorboards as well, as I recall we have the same year CD22's. This might be the answer.

Joel,
You need to check your glasses. :smiled

Nick has to duck entering your home and he doesn't have near as much hair as I do...no where close.

"Cheesy' now is that anyway to describe american ingenuity.
