permatrim on E Tec 90

Has anyone one here experienced the ride of a 22 with a 90 E Tec and a permatrim? I just need encouragement to get over the fear of drilling the holes. Id like to achieve a better ride in the chop my boat doesn't have trim tabs.

Lots of info on the site about CD22 ride with and w/o trim tabs. And permatrims too. Both will help, the engine doesn't matter. I put them on the TC, I have 115 Suzukis, it helped a lot getting up on plane at a lower speed.

Go drill it!

I have a mid-1990 Evinrude 90 two-stroke (pre E-Tec?) that I installed a permatrim on. Yes, it was scary drilling the holes but I have had it for 2+ years and all seems well.
Seems to help in the chop.
I do not have trim tabs either.

Great thanks! I can't ask for better recommendations then those first hand experience and a pro from G. D. :}. The last ship I welded on at GD was the LY Spear . I didn't get to weld a permatrim on the spear but the C View is getting one soon thanks again!/ Ill use bolts.

Small world. I was the new construction officer on LY Spear when she was built at Supship Quincy (General Dynamics). I think it was around 1970-72 or so..

Well boss! I wasn't the the 18 yr old throwing welding rods over the side ,just so i could take a walk to get more, that was someone else for sure!

Montana Kevin,

I have one on my 22Angler and 100 Hp 4 stroke Yamaha.

At $35, run don't walk down there and get it.

You will like it!!
