out of the box rocket launchers for 22 cruiser

Looking for a good out of the box set of 6 rocket launchers for 07 CD cruiser, wondering what others have used? I don’t have a radar arch so will be attaching directly to the cabin, but maybe a radar arch in my future? So just wondering what are some good options.

You might try one of these 6-rod holder racks that can be bolted to the outside of the cabin bulkhead below the starboard rear window and near the cockpit floor:

Details can be found HERE.

They also come in 2, 3, and 4 rod models. If you go to the WM catalogue, you will find several brands and variations.

Then add one of THESE at the downturned edge of the cabin lip to hold the tops of the rods:

I added an eyelet on either side of the upper rack and a small bungee cord to hold the tops of the rods firmly when traveling at speed and on the trailer. You can see the top of the set up in this photo from Eagle Lake:

ADDITIONALLY, you can make a box that fits over the lower holder and reels that locks them down for secure storage overnight or at the marina. Tyboo Mike did an outstanding job on building one out of "plastic lumber" on his original CD-22, but I can't get into the Cockpit and Accessories Detail Photos for some reason right now to see if there is a photo there.

A couple of years ago, a bunch of us ordered custom made launchers for the CD 22 roof. They were stainless and had 6 tubes. If you do a search on the site, I think you'll find them and an address in WA state to get another one made. I think it was about $175 to get one made and shipped to the right coast. I'll look when I have time.

HERE'S THE OLD THREAD

I have one of those rocket launchers Charlie mentioned, sitting in my garage unused. You want it? Make me an offer I can't refuse. All I care about is getting the pack and ship cost out of the deal.

What a deal Don; I’m contemplating installing a radar arch so not sure it will work out. I defiantly won’t all fishing poles off the deck, don’t won’t anything to interfere with a future camper back installation.
Don’t really know if radar is in the future but if one is, installing the dome aft will allow for room forward on top for a tender.
So for now I’m just looking at ides, but will keep your offer in mind.

Seems like Sneaks has made a nice offer. I guess the launcher didn't fit quite on the high-top, but it sure has done me well over the years, and looks good too. Of course, I'm a bit prejudice, since I had them built. They really don't, and most likely wouldn't interfere with a radar arch. Look at the photos of the boats they are on........If I had a C-dory without the launcher, I definitely would get it again. It should make some good trading material on this site for fishermen. How much do you want for it -- I've got a friend or two that have c-dories that could use it, especially if it is less money than it originally cost us to have built........ Sorry that it didn't quite have the correct curvature for the high-top, but it works fine on the standard 22 cruiser. Ron

Well now, Ron, I guess supply and demand is still alive and well.

I'm definitely interested in making room in the garage, especially now that I'm storing another household worth of stuff. Not gonna get in an online bidding war so you read the offer I gave breausaw and that's the lowest I'll go. Pack and ship fees via UPS. PM me or email what they're willing to pay above that (or even at that) and I'll take the highest received by Halloween. Fair enough? Heck, I'll open it to all the Brats now that Breausaw declined. It does have the West Marine sleeves and caps.

BTW, it does have the correct curvature for the High Top. I just didn't use them much and when the opportunity came to have the holes professionally filled and repaired, I removed it. The birds at the marina were too fond of them and were using them as porta potties .

Now that brings up a great mind picture!! :smilep

Would be cool to have a pix of 6 birds sitting up there at the same time! :disgust

Naw, reminds me too much of evening Department Head meetings aboard ship....

I think I'll ask to take time out on the Report from the Poop Deck to make a small, non scatalogical* point:

I'm thinking that the large rocket launchers are, by scale, more suitable for large fishing rods with long and/or large butts (another delicate point of discussion, see Search for "Ballast"), and therfore susitable for rod such as those used on the ocean or similar. I don't see them as being well suited to smaller fishing rods (or butts) more suitable for inland waters.

Does anyone else agree with me, or do we disagree and need a "re-buttal" discussion?

*scatology: the scientific study of animal droppings (feces), hence, the existence of the expert in the field, the scatologist....

From a practical point of view, being able to identify animals from their droppings is analgous to doing so by their imprints (tracks) or other signs, an important skill to hunters, trackers, enviornmental scientists, etc.

As a Coprolytic former teacher, I see you're still up to speed in proper daffynitions, Joe.

Charlie, yes I meant eight o'clock reports which, as Command Master Chief I was forced to attend. Bleah

In any case, Joe, rocket launchers are not used to troll down here. They're used strictly for storage and I've had some pretty heavy combinations in 'em without problems. I've also had light bay rigs in 'em and they too seem to ride quite well. I think the sleeves make a difference.

Don

Don-

I was actually just referring to rod storage, not trolling usage, but the fit of the sleeve would indeed be the key, although many of the freshwater rods have very short butts below the reel seat that wouldn't give but 8 inches or so of overlaap with the sleeve, so the fit would have to be pretty tight in choppy water.

Hey Ron_

Thanks for re-posting the best C-Dory photo ever taken! (IMHO)

I'm not disputing the rocket launchers suitability for larger rod use, just that there may be better systems for inland lake fishermen.

Not just in the C-Dory, but in boating in general, there seems to be some "mistique" or "misstique", if you will, about rocket launchers, in my opinion.

Folks seem to think they make a boat look more sporty, professional, or serious with them. And the more the better, making one look very accomplished and esteemed, etc.

Do you really need 21 rocket launchers if you aren't in the charter business or landing at Normandy on D-Day???

I just think it's worthwhile to point this out to folks before they make a Christmas Tree of Rocket Launchers out of their boat!

Fun topic, either way, or opinion!

I really like the launchers better than the original pole holders that were in the cockpit where I now have my second helm station. If I could only figure out a really good way to get the darn cooler up and outoftheway when I'm fishing. I do use it for a seat, and as a semi live well, but out on the ocean I'd like a clear deck. I use the port lazarette for batteries to balance out my starboard position on the kicker. Never quite have enough room on these things, and just when you solve a problem, you find more to address. Anyway, I only have 2 pole-holders for on the splash well board, and 3 on the downriggers, and 6 pole holders on the rocket launcher, plus a pole holder used as a net holder. I can however use 2 of the rocket launcher slots for when I use my "outriggers". Whoa, I got to get a couple of more poles!!!!! :smile

Now wait a minute Joe, are you implying that 16 is too many rod holders for a 22?

Old photo (pre radar and some other stuff) but you get the idea. I occasionally troll with seven or eight lines. Rare because you need days with no fish and no waves. But even with four of five lines out it is nice to be able to shift them from side to side to land fish etc. I have eight rod holders for trolling plus you can run a leadcore from the roof rocket launchers. The four vertical holders on the transom are for transport and shuffling. A couple of other old pics in my album.

Regards and wish I were fishing.

Hey Mark!

Seven or eight trolling lines at once, eh?

Do you sometimes get the Big Snafu of Tangled Lines?

One of our local guides trolls with seven lines, but he double stacks them two per downrigger,, etc.

At least having a second or more rod is legal in Michigan, apparently. Here in California, you have to have a Two-Rod Stamp ($12.00) with your License ($40+)to use a second rod. The fine for a second rod w/o the stamp or for a third rod, etc. is about $400 per rod!!!

Nice being able to troll with so many offerings at once until you find out what they're biting on!

Go treat yourself: four more rocket launchers for Christmas!
