Origo Stove Fuel

Hi All:

My new 22' Cruiser is equipped with the Origo alcohol stove. I'm curious what you all usually burn if you have this option and not a wallas?

Denatured alcohol? Has anyone tried a yellow bottle of "heet" ??

Please let me know what's been used and what our stove seems to prefer for a clean burning and effective fuel.

Thanks a bunch,

Gary R.

Gary,

I get mine at West Marine, if you don't have a store, get it by catalog. Not sure if they charge extra for 'hazardous' material. Get the "soot-free" only, don't buy the cheaper stuff -- blackens your pots/pans. May be able to get it elsewhere by looking up the brand and doing some Internet searching.

Steve is so right.... I used to buy my marine alcahol from West Marine too as it does not soot and will not soot up yer coffee pot.
I now have Propane....and like it much better.

I just looked it up....it's called...Origo Soot-Free Stove Alcohol...costs $16.49 a gallon. It does work well without any soot.

Hi Folks,

I purchase mine at the local hardware store, and have been doing so for years. Denatured Alcohol is just that, Denatured Alcohol. You can fool around with the other stuff, but what I have found out through the years is that the manufacturer merely relabels the stuff. "Marine" on a label is two to five bucks more.

Wow, thanks Fred and Dan, I was beginning to worry, it's 4 minutes till midnight and I HADN'T LEARNED MY ONE NEW THING for the day! I'll give the denatured alcohol a try next fill up -- great, I hate paying inflated prices, especially at WM.
