Ordering Flip-Up Opening Center Window 22-foot Classic

I'm really envious of this feature on our hot summer days and miss the feel of wind in my face from my old Boston Whaler days.

I have talked with Diamond Sea Glaze about ordering a flip-up front-center window for my '83 Classic. I'm guessing these are identical in the older Cruisers, as well, but I haven't confirmed it.

The price for a single window is about $440, plus a $50 crating fee, plus $45 duty, plus shipping of about $50, which will come out to somewhere around $600 !!!

If I place an order for 10 windows, Diamond will offer a 10-percent discount on the windows, crating gets split three ways (there is a max of 3 windows per crate), duty gets split 10 ways, and the shipping total should be about the same after a bounce in California. Total cost per window, delivered UPS Ground, should be about $450. I've inquired into the possibility of having crates of three windows sent to 3 or 4 different addresses for local pickup, which would cut the re-shipping cost.

Are there nine other classic owners, or owners of older C-dorys with fixed front windows out there who would like to upgrade?

Diamond says that the older C-dorys used a 2.5-inch radius in the window corners and that it now manufactures these windows with a 3-inch radius corner. By my calculations, enlarging the window corner radii by 1/2 inch, would mean you would want to enlarge the entire window opening by 1/2 inch on each side to achieve a perfect fit. This should be easy to do with a rotozip-type spiral saw, a trim router with a rotozip-type endmill, or with a fine-toothed keyhole saw. The althenative is to keep the same window opening, but fill in the corers to a 3-inch radius.

If there is sufficient interest, I will remove my window, make a printable template of the current window opening as well as the new window shape, and post the templates here for you to check out on your own boat.

Pricing is based on a window with a plain aluminum finish to match the older Classic windows.

I have a 1981 Classic that I sure would be the same fit. I actually live about an hour from the factory and could pick mine up if this flies.
I'm interested.
