So now what do you do with it? Is it good eating. I had never heard of Lings until I saw the thread about them here earlier.

Lings are excellent eating.

Martin.

Congrats! That's the way to kick off retirement!

What do you do with it?? you eat it. Ling cod is some of the best eating fish you can get. Most of your really high end fish and chips are made from it at restaurants. I like it better they halibut and even more then most salmon. its also great baked or cooked in butter in a pan.

Yes we used sole again. I'm never using jigs again. its just too easy to catch the sole and use them. You get a lot more hits. We had 3 undersized ( limit is 27 to 37 inch fish slot rules, anything smaller or larger goes back in the water) Two keepers and 8 hook ups that let go before they got to the boat. I am using my salmon rods not my halibut rods and 6 ounces of lead. We were limited in about two hours. This is a hands on light gear feel the bite type of show. Lots of action and lots of fun.

Yeah definitely lots of fun!! Those little Sanddabs are a kick to catch. Toms got this fishery nailed.

That wasn't the same fish I knocked off last weekend, was it? ;)

I dd not see a knot on his head so no

I read today that the ling cod fishing is getting better and may be due to the rock fish depth restriction. You can no longer fish below a 150 ft in most areas to protect rock fish. This may be allowing more lings due to less pressure at the greater depths. The back side is that more lings equals less rock fish and the rock fish are the main food for big lings. I read that in the Reel News free sports paper. Not sure how true the logic is.

Oh well nothing to do but work until crap and salmon open. Oh I could go shrimp some more in area 7 west or 6???

Tom-

Is there a closed season on the first item?

Are there bag limits?

( Sorry, but someone was bound to comment on the typo, and I have nothing better to do right now.)

Joe. :teeth :thup

bag limit is 10 and you have to use a pot to catch them in
